If you ask a random person not from Louisiana, “what comes to your mind when you think of Louisiana”, these things all rank above LSU at a minimum:
New Orleans
Mardi Gras
Cajun/creole culture

If ULM wanted to challenge it, they could brand themselves as UL as well.
They could, but they never will. That ship sailed a long time ago. It was kinda a 2 for 1 rebrand since not only did the school give up the name NLU to switch to ULM, they also gave up the Indian mascot as well. When both went down, I honestly think that is when a good portion of old school alumni bailed. Also add that a good bit of alumni were still pissed about jumping up to Div 1 when everyone with a clue knew that NLU didn't belong there and you have some long time resentment. Fast forward to now and the school has a large majority of alumni that gives zero fricks what they are called. I guess everyone post NLU name change and the last few admins must be ok with it because they have let ULL just own UL and athletically speaking as bad as ULM is in most sports, why fight it anyway? I actually applaud UL for doing it since they got such little resistance from anyone to do it and UL is a much better marketing brand than ULL. It seems the only people that get riled up about it are LSU fans.

I think this is the pot calling the kettle black if you believe LSU and it’s supporters are the reason the school in Lafayette isn’t some nationally respected university. ULL/USL/SLI/SLII has been around a long time. A name change isn’t what is holding it back.
There’s been more than enough proof in this thread to show otherwise. If you don’t want to believe it, that’s not my problem.

what you're saying is that essentially the only way that LSU can stay on top is by holding every other university in Louisiana down, you can't stand on your own merit, you have to attempt to discredit everyone else around you.
What a surprise, a ULL tard is completely misrepresenting what’s been said

That’s not at all what I’ve said. What I’ve said is LSU has a right to protect itself from any threat to their status as the premier and flag ship university in the state. That includes from a branding stand point.
You apparently believe the failure by ULL to supplant them as such is unfair and if only LSU would just get out of the way, they’d overtake them

Some of you are genuinely retarded. I see why LSU rejected your application.

You’re lying. Look at the website.

Funny you say this with that script A next to your profile name. Now do you want to to talk about how ULL country is infested with Bama fans and how that has nothing to do with LSU?

Can you show the link where the state legislature designated LSU as the flagship university for the state of Louisiana?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I believe that you believe that.
Because you’re dumb.

Have you seen the standards to get into LSU? They aren’t rejecting anyone with a pulse

Yes I have. Which makes your rejection that much more embarrassing

You're absolutely right. With all of the backwards thinking in this state (on full display in this thread), including LSU spending 400k in 1984 to fight our name change, no public school in the state will ever be on par with Texas or UNC. So I guess we should just give up trying to better our institution altogether.

Don't worry about that, the area most folks from South LA consider Arkansas makes up for it with LSU fans so it is probably a wash.

LOL, I'm guessing he has a degree from ITT or Diesel Driving Academy.

With all those Arkansas applicants I’d say that's a smart move!
