Atmosphere wasn’t bad. The stadium wasn’t empty nor anywhere near full.
Concessions were cheap and quality.
ULL’s qb can’t hit the broadway of a barn when on the run
Biggest problem was really long, slow lines for concessions.
It was also super easy getting in and out. Literally zero traffic until it was time to make a left turn into the parking lot

I have bad news for Cajun fans. They will lose tonight because I am going to the game. I was previously banned from Cajun field by some friends that are die hards because every time I went they lost. But I won my appeal today

You’re banned again.

I CryingJordanFace.jpeg'd all the way home last night. We're Almost Beat Em' U.

Good defensive showing though. Afraid we lost any momentum we were getting fan-wise again.

I've never seen so many drunk people at a game before though. $2 16 oz beers in South LA is dangerous. Baws were walking back to their seats with cardboard boxes filled with 16 oz. beer cans.

I posted this yesterday. With it being a weekday game the issues were compounded. Many of the student workers (high school volunteers) were not there, it appeared up to 40% if I had to make a guess. I see them every game and the numbers were sparse last night. People did not tailgate and arrived after work, so naturally they were going to take advantage of the cheap concession prices. I spoke to several Sodexho employees and can tell you they were not prepared, they didn't think there was going to be such a demand. I don't get this disconnect from the University and Sodexho ? The high school kids really do a good job overall, but last night there were older workers who moved very slowly and moved w/ no urgency.

Honestly, if they could solve the concessions line issue without raising prices or driving down attendance, I’d probably make a point to attend all ULL games that don’t conflict with LSU games. Literally the only thing that really frustrated me was how long it would have taken to get another round of drinks.

If the lines weren’t so long, I probably would have spent at least twice as much money on concessions

Not only is the new section of the stadium an eyesore, but it pulls people from the rest of the stadium

Why the hell did they expand

Expanding that stadium was one of the dumbest things they've ever done. That was an outrageous overreaction to a couple of solid crowds

Our previous administration thought it would be needed after the crowds we were drawing from 2011-2014 were high, only for it to fall right back into our faces when we got on probation and started losing again in 2015.

The south endzone project was intended to be an off set for tearing down/rebuilding/reducing the upper deck.

I get it

But the camera shots of the stands with pockets and pockets of empty seats looked like shite. It wouldn’t have looked that bad if they didn’t have the south end zone section

They expanded knowing they were going to be tearing down the existing press box and upper deck. Those displaced fans needed somewhere to go (this was done following the bigger Hud crowds, so it seemed smart).

But rumors are Cajun Field has a ton of structural issues that need to be addressed before a cent can go to actually renovating the stadium.

It’s not rumors, the neglect and downright contempt for stadium maintenance has become a huge problem. It is such poor condition that I wouldn’t be shocked if it were condemned.

So all plans are being rethought and now we must address the lower bowl as well as the upper deck. It’s a nightmare that could have been avoided if the previous administration would have taken care of the stadium.

There was an article back in may where Maggard estimated the cost of the Cajun Field renovation would be 45-60 million. At that cost, you have to wonder if we'd be better just building an entirely new stadium. That's approaching the cost of several recent new stadiums.

UCF: $54 million
FAU: $70 million
Tulane: $75 million

Now, that gets you a metal stadium vs the concrete structure weve got at Cajun Field. But at an initial estimate of 45-65, it won't take many overages and adjustments to get to the cost of a new stadium.

Don't go cheap if you build new. Baylor built McLane at the same time Tulane built Yulman. Both had a lot of build up. Went to opening at McLane, well layed out, huge concourses, numerous large bathrooms and concession stands. A few weeks later went to Yulman, polar opposite. McLane costs much more (seats about 18000 more) but you get what you pay for.

$266 million its questionable whether UL can even afford the $45 million to renovate Cajun field.

ULL needs to find a way to get a stadium closer to campus. It’s impossible, but the land where they have all the student housing (not Bonin / Coronna, the other set of housing buildings) is a damn good spot

Those dorms are too new to tear down, but man that would be killer for ULL to have an on campus stadium

I woke up hungover as shite this morning

This was my first UL game, I enjoyed it, tickets were cheap, beer was cheap, crowd was decent. Wife and I rode our bikes to/from the game so no parking/traffic issues. I had a good time and plan to go back when scheduling allows.

I'm with you but that's a lost cause at this point. They've invested too much into creating the "athletics campus". The master plan does at least contain future plans on connecting the current campus to the athletic campus through the St. Landry corridor.

But yeah having Cajun field plopped in a big parking lot away from the main campus takes away from the college feel. UL has a perfect campus for tailgating if it were intertwined throughout the main campus near an on campus stadium similar to LSU.
