I’m heading to Lafayette tonight for the epic Sunbelt Showdown between the ULL and App St. I have never been to a game at Cajun Field and was wondering if anyone could give me some good info.
Where should I park?
Where/when is the pregame concert with Wayne Toups?
Is beer served in the stadium?
What’s concessions like?
Any tailgating for a midweek game?

Welcome to the Concrete Jungle

You won’t find the atmosphere to be what it was 5 years ago, but the media and ULL went all out to promote this game and to get people to go. It’ll probably have a good crowd

I don’t really know what a Wednesday tailgating atmosphere would be like

It's also only like $2 so drink up butter cup.
Concessions are crazy cheap.

Concession Prices

I know there is free parking tonight but I couldn't tell you where. Tried to search but couldn't find anything, just know from the raido talking about it. Drug Emporium has free parking but DO NOT park at Rouses. They are towing Nazi's
Tailgating will be minimal for a midweek game but there will be people out there.

Should be a good turnout. Local radio and TV been promoting this game for two weeks. "Pack the stadium, It's on national TV" etc.
ULL is a good Sunbelt team this year and has NEVER beaten App State. Should be a great game. I'd go if I had the time.

I think free parking is at Blackham Coliseum. I know most Lafayette area Tigers fans despise the Cajuns, but it’s a good matchup and cheaper beer than the bar. Carry y’all arse down to Cajun Field and watch a good game. See smokin hot women and get lit. Lol

The tailgating will be non existent. The crowd will probably be okay in spite of the mid week game just because of how much it's been promoted and how big of a game it is. But I hate mid week games because they just aren't the same.

The game should still be a good time though

Wayne Toups will be under the big oak tree next to the baseball stadium.

This is not accurate. Myself and the two other LSU grads in our office are all going to the game to support the Cajuns, I've never come across an LSU fan that actually hates the cajuns. It's the Cajun fans that despise LSU if anything

ETA: I expect a solid crowd, it's a huge game for the Cajuns and Napier/Maggard seem to have energized the fanbase. Tickets and concessions are really cheap, no reason not to go if you like football and live in the lafayette area

You’d be wrong. The “Know Your Place” crowd is strong.

Really glad y’all are coming. I wish more local LSU fans would attend when it doesn’t interfere with the Tigers.

Agreed. Wish LSU would take a hint from those prices.

I fought Wayne at a festival in 2000ish. He was so coked up he couldn't think and started it. Manager apologized after his sound guy pulled him away.

He apologized like 5 years later when we were hanging out in the "greenroom" tent before a show, said he was so fricked up he doesn't remember anything from the time.

Actually a nice dude with tons of talent and tons of demons.

I think it's pretty even. I'm a USL grad and an Alumnus of both. Back in the early 80's I recall people on USL's campus wearing shirts that said I pull for USL and whoever is playing against LSU. I think the know your place crowd only started taking notice of UL when the tried to change their name originally in the 80s.

I never got either point of view, I pull for both. But I am definitely more of an LSU fan and now I have 2 kids going there.

I'm making my first game of the year tonight. Team has played well and deserves some support.

quote:

Where should I park?

The fields across Congress from Cajun Field. They're not charging anyone to park in an effort to get people out there tonight.

quote:

Where/when is the pregame concert with Wayne Toups?

In front of the Stadium, on the corner closest to the baseball field.

quote:

Is beer served in the stadium?

Damn right and they're basically giving it away this year.

quote:

What’s concessions like?

quote:

Any tailgating for a midweek game?

Tailgating will be pretty sparse tonight I'd imagine.

Hope you enjoy yourself.
