Jones will never fight Aspinal. He will duck him until his prime is gone.

He will, however, jump at a Poatan fight in a second. Jones should be stripped of his title if he doesn't fight Aspinal in the next 6 months.

If Alex wins, Jon can plausibly put off Aspinall again for an immediate belt defense. And I believe he'd quickly accept a Pereira fight because it would be a massive payout, and possibly retirement fight. Jones last fought in November, so he must know he has to fight someone by May. Since Jon has already been granted his legends fight, that makes an Alex or Tom fight an inevitability--assuming, of course, he isn't just squeezing a final few months of fame out before unceremoniously announcing his retirement soon. Whatever the decision, it'll have to be announced soon.

There's low-level chatter about him moving up to HW after this fight, win or lose, for an eventual Jon Jones superfight or Aspinall.

Low level as in from Dana?

Oh, wow. I hadn't realized that Dana already put that out there publicly with how much shite he's taken for not nailing down an Aspinall fight already. If he's saying that much publicly, then you know the golden fight that everyone has been holding out for through this weekend, pending a Pereira victory, is Pereira vs Jones.

It seems like Dana is set on doing Jones vs Aspinall next, but he knows a Jones vs Pereira fight would be huge

Jones vs Aspinall would be the biggest HW fight in UFC. Casuals and Hardcores will all tune in. It’s such an obvious fight to make. Seems like the problem is that Jones is not playing ball. If I were Dana, I’d give him a timeline to meet or strip him. Him holding up the division has gone too long.

Im not getting the Ankalaev hype at all. He's fought nothing but tomato cans and the one legit person he did fight, Jan, he looked pretty unimpressive in a draw. Poatan rolls once again.

Best chance Ankalaev has is to constantly shoot for takedowns. If he tries to throw with Alex he’ll get caught.

If Pereira wins against Ankalaev, there's Jones and Aspinall. After that, I guess Dricus Du Plessis has said that he wants to fight Alex. Outside of UFC, apparently Usyk has expressed interest in boxing Alex.

I'm sure Pereira would like to get his loss vs. Izzy back and end on a win against him. It must really sting, Izzy tricked him by playing possum. But now Izzy is on such a losing slide that it would almost seem beneath Alex to want to go back and get that redemption.

It would be insane if Pereira wins against Ankalaev and then goes on to win against Jones and Usyk.

I just think Ankalaev has a chance only because--Pereira can't win 'em all, can he? It would be pretty amazing if he were to win out for the rest of his fighting career.

I rewatched Ankalaev/Rakic today and the striking from Ank is really slick. He has good hands. But something I saw in that fight was that there are a lot of openings for leg kicks. I look
For Pereira to try to pelt him with low kicks early and often to pressure Ankalaev into getting a little
Impatient, where he can counter.

Ank fights mostly out of southpaw but he occasionally switches. If he is in southpaw, Alex would attack with his front leg on Ank's outside front kick. Pereira is not a back shin to front shin kicker like Jan.

Jones will be bigger and will take him down. Alex isn't winning that fight. He would get destroyed by Usyk. MMA fighters are not beating professional boxers. The level between MMA and pro boxer is massive, especially a guy like Usyk in his prime. That would be very ugly to watch.

This should have happened a few months ago after Jones' last fight when he made it clear he was going to duck Aspinall. It's not fair for the sport to hold the title hostage.

Aspinall is the only fight for Jones at HW. If he won't take it, strip the title and name Aspinall the sole champion, period.

Might could clip Jones but Usyk would beat him up in the boxing ring with boxing gloves.

Ank doesn’t really have a weakness and he should’ve won vs Jan. Got robbed on that fight. He should’ve been more aggressive to start that fight though. He fricked around too much. He should be undefeated. Literally took a last second miracle to beat him in a fight he dominated against Craig.

I was at that fight and it was horrible. I remember Dana being fricking pissed after that shite. People booing and walking out of a main event at LHW ain’t a good look. Both guys fought like shite.

To be honest that division is in shambles so the best play is try and work the deal and get jones vs aspinall even if it takes a while to make it happen. That gives time for hopefully some new contenders to make a name. I surely don’t want to see fricking gane get pushed into another title fight. Jones vs aspinall is a khabib mcgregor type fight. I’d rather wait for that than see aspinall vs fricking gane.

Sigh… boxers are not on the same level as wrestlers.

Anyway, anyone watching Titan at the Casino tonight? I can’t get the online link to work at all

Ank was just playing candy crush or some other mobile game at the press conference. Dude looks completely calm and ready to take on Alex. I feel like he found a weakness that he’s going to exploit tomorrow.
