Haven’t been able to post all night but my god what a pathetic showing from Chiesa. How have you been in the game this long and look like an absolute toddler in the striking game. Anytime Holland threw a shot he just balled up like a bitch. Then it goes to the ground which is where he wants it and he just hands his neck over on a silver platter with no defense Yes I’m a little salty he fricked my parlay out the gate but what a piss poor showing for a veteran

Did you see what holland said about him in the post fight press conference?

It's gotten to the point where I can't really imagine the UFC without Olivi. If I was going to start a sports related organization, though, I would look to hire her away from the UFC. Not sure what her compensation package is, but I'd double or triple it. I don't think anyone does it better.

I'm surprised by all the outrage over the Pereira win in here.
It was close. And he clearly won Rd 2. Giving him another round was not that outrageous. Split 29-28 either way was fine.

Considering that he didn’t do much in either round, it kinda is.

Meh. The third was close. If Jan put a little more effort when he took him down with 40 seconds left, he probably wins the fight.

I don’t think it was a robbery but even to say he clearly won rd 2 is a stretch. Jan had a good amount of control time and a take down the first half of rd 2. I guess he won that round on the calf kick the 2nd part of the round?

The truth is the optics went toward Perierra bc Jan was so gassed. However, rounds 2 and 3 were very close when you factor in damage/control time

Id have to watch again but I thought jan won 1 and 3 pretty easily. The fight sucked and neither guy was aggressive or appeared to handle the altitude very well. Basically both were just trying to survive. Disappointing fight and añex def doesnt deserve a title shot from this win but will probably get it because the division is shite.

He didn’t hit him in the temple or jaw. Crazy that just a neck shot can knock him out that fast

Bro he got hit right on that soft spot behind the ear that is a devastating shot

Yup, the brachial stun (iirc, if well executed shocks the vagus nerve and shuts the brain off for a moment), as humorously demonstrated in this really old video with a couple of Marines:

I didn’t have a huge problem with the decision. It seems like the judges are starting to not put much stock into takedowns that amount to no damage which is a good thing, jan didn’t do any damage on 2 of the 3 takedowns. Pereira had him in serious trouble at the end of round 2 and should have finished him, I’m guessing he didn’t step on the gas because of what happened in the last izzy fight. Pereira did land that left several times on the feet and tore up Jan’s calf, Jan just wore it well

Pereira outstruck Jan R2 54-33 total strikes, 33-20 sig strikes. R3 it was Alex 46-33, 35-26. I think people just remember Jan’s takedown from the end of R3 and thought he won but he didn’t do shite with it. You can tell from Jan’s face and body language at the end of R3 that he took more damage.

Most of the media scored it 29-28 Pereira.

That’s the right score. It sure why people are outraged by it. Jan was so tired and done that had it been a 5 rd fight, Alex KOs him. I think Alex had a chance towards the end of R2 but I guess he learned his lesson from his last fight with Izzy’s about being too aggressive.

Is Gaethje out of his mind with the post-win backflips off the cage? I get a shot of pain sometimes if I have to land a jump / fall from a few feet off the ground. At least one UFC fighter has injured themselves just climbing down from the cage and hitting the mat from a few feet high.

Meanwhile Gaethje does an insane backflip off the top of the cage every time. The fence is 6ft high, he must be hitting the ground from a height of 10 to 12 feet. No one ever mentions it, but he's risking serious injury, possibly a career ender.

On the other hand, if he is on his final title run, then maybe he only has to do it one more time if he wins.

Great interview by poirier. Compared to other sports i just totally enjoy the personalities in the UFC.
