LSU has chef Michael Johnson. The only reason I know this is because he’s on the T-bob and Jordy show. No offense to chef, im sure he’s wonderful At his job but his weekly segment is the worst part of that show.

Which is why TJ Moe calls bullshite on athletes who claim they go to bed hungry. If they go hungry, it's because they sold their card, which gets them all the food they can eat.

Yeah if you’re a scholarship football player going hungry on an SEC campus then you just aren’t capable of taking care of yourself.

Under coach Chip Kelly, who sees nutrition as key to the making of a football player

Glad he's in on nutrition, cause you usually start with recruiting.

That is downright, RIDICULOUS. $174 dollars per days is legitimately 3 gourmet, fine dining steaks a day

That’s a standard day of meals for the OT

You can eat a perfect diet and not import specialty beef from out of state. Meat, veggies, and carbs are not expensive.

I don't know what they served at LSU, but every large 4 year school should have a pretty good buffet style cafeteria system for the student body. Sure the food isn't that great, but there is always going to be at least 4-5 options consisting of meat, veggies, always some sort of pizza, and of course a salad bar with soup. Half the kids were content with eating the cereal or bagels that would be served all day. If you didn't stuff your backpack with at least three apples/bananas as you were leaving you were doing it wrong.

On other occasions, the program ordered hundreds of peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches from a Los Angeles caterer at $4.95 each.

i could be way off base here, but this doesn't seem THAT bad. the alternative is to pay for the labor and supplies, which would probably save some money, but not all that much

I doubt it would cost more than $1.50 per sandwich to pay for labor and supplies. And if they have them available 5 days a week, that's a good chunk of change.

I could live with that price for the PB&Js but I wonder if that even tried to negotiate a reduction in price since they are buying by the hundreds.

They could conceivably get an even bigger discount if they offer to throw up some posts on their social media showing the team enjoying their delicious PB&Js from Westwood Sandwiches and MILF Farm or wherever they get them.

But if they are paying full price for all of this, that goes beyond wasteful to flat out insane.
