Two more. Never play poker with a man who has the first name of a city in Texas or get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger.

Stealing in China :

Why would anyone EVER break the law in other countries, much less China?

quote:

One source told ESPN the players -- which also included freshmen Cody Riley and Jalen Hill -- were arrested on shoplifting charges.

The players are being questioned about stealing from a Louis Vuitton store that is located next to the team's hotel.

There is at least 1 Louis Vuitton store a mile or two away from UCLA's campus and I'm sure there are at least a few more within 10 miles. Why are you gonna do that in China?

I’ve been to China multiple times, you have to be a special kind of dumb to try and shoplift there. I mean people are literally ALWAYS staring at foreigners. And everything is extremely cheap so a Big Baller having to steal ain’t a good look.

Supposedly cops ran up deep into the hotel and put the press on UCLA and GT players basically saying tell us or don’t go to the USA. Eventually someone wanted to go home and told the truth.

I'm a black man who has visited China. I kept my head down the entire time because of all the stares I was getting.

You have to be a complete fricking moron to commit a crime in China as a black foreigner.

I think its safe to say that these three UCLA players won't be coming back to the United States anytime soon given the way the Chinese legal system works AND the fact that these morons stole Louis Vuitton items which notch up their value substantially.

On top of that the Chinese are the most racists people on the planet so these guys will have every single obstacle up against them. These three guys have now been processed by Chinese authorities and in all likely hood will be staying for a longer period of time in China that they originally bargained for.

Steve Alford just lost three players for at least three months

LiAngelo Ball and UCLA teammates could face 3-10 years in prison if convicted of shoplifting

quote:

If standard practices are applied, the three UCLA basketball players – including LiAngelo Ball – arrested Tuesday in mainland China under suspicion of shoplifting face between three and 10 years in prison if convicted, according a lawyer familiar with Chinese law who communicated with Yahoo Sports on the condition of anonymity because he doesn’t want to speak out about the Chinese government.

The three men could be detained for more than a month without American-style bail before local prosecutors even decide whether to press charges, according to William Nee, a Hong Kong-based researcher of the Chinese court system for Amnesty International.

Nee said it is not uncommon for a defendant to wait 30-37 days before being officially indicted. Among those indicted, Chinese prosecutors enjoy a 99.2 percent conviction rate, according to Nee’s research.
