I didn't see any violence.
Watts did what the Board told him to do.

Good on those police officers for maintaining composure and not having to resort to tear gas to subdue the protestors.

They are probably pissed to, they just lost a ton of OT.

As expected, Auburn fans are sticking their penis up Green and Gold's arse in a UAB thread. If you guys feel so bad for them, why don't yall buy the hospital and surrounding area from UA.

I too agree that the football program should be self sufficient in order to continue, but as an aside, why is Paul Bryant Jr. on the BOT. More specifically, what has he done to warrant that position, other than being the son of a football coach?

ETA to add - a football coach who refused to coach black people for 25 years.

ETA part 2 - Nevermind I googled it. Seems that he is a dog track tycoon. I really hope that this is made up.

Because that's not what it's about. It's about a personal beef with UAB by Paul Bryant Jr and other BOT members and about not wanting residents of Birmingham spending money on UAB or going to games instead of devoting their attention and money to almighty Bama

I would upvote this 1000 times.

As expected, the thread is flooded with bama fans coming to mock players and fans for losing their program. Congrats on the big win I guess. What are y'all doing to celebrate?

How are Bama fans so fricking delusional that they think everything is about Auburn and Alabama? It has nothing to do with me being an Auburn fan.
I lived the first 22 years of my life in Birmingham. I've gone to UAB football and basketball games as long as I can remember. I grew up watching Darrell Hackney and Roddy White when I was in middle school. And Squeaky Johnson and the Taylor twins upset Kentucky in the NCAA tournament.

There are a lot of Birmingham natives that really care about UAB athletics. Just because you country bumpkins in your trailers in Randolph County dont understand that doesn't mean everything revolves around the Iron Bowl, you narrow minded frick

By a lot you mean like 500 people at most? If it wasn't for the hospital and health school, UAB wouldn't have anything to hang its hat on.

That is our point...that this decision does not have nearly as much to do with Alabama as AU fans are making it out to be. This decision is what was best for UAB.

UABs best decision is to get kicked out of their conference which will probably start the end of their athletic program all together?

It's strange that even Bama fans on reddit can see this is all because of a personal grudge. Not by a university, but by one man with a powerful name.

Please, I've been to more UAB games than most of their students have.

Yea that's why so many D1 programs have cut football in the past.. fricking idiot. This was exactly what Bryant jr wanted, and he got it.

The best thing possible would to somehow become independent of the UA system, become "The University of Birmingham" and focus on becoming a basketball powerhouse like Memphis, Wichita State, Creighton, etc. But that is not going to happen, so the next best thing is to drop football and devote those resources to making UAB the best it can be in sports where it can actually compete like basketball, baseball, softball, etc.

There's no way to respond. You've convinced yourself that Alabama is a kingdom ruled by one man through bloodline. All the folks at UAB that love their program are helpless to this one man's decree, because of his last name. It's insanity. I don't know what to say to someone who believes something so crazy, The real answer lies right there in color, in the photos I posted. They shut the football program DOWN, and 40 people showed up. They don't have much support, and they never have. It is unfortunate that Auburn people who consider Bama some evil nefarious conspiratorial entity, rather than a pragmatic university system, have spouted this propaganda. It's more unfortunate for the very small fanbase and of course those involved with UAB program. But they should point fingers at their own fanbase, their own students and alumni, for not supporting them.

I could care less about the Barrr or his kid. They mean nothing to me. I have always said UAB should focus on being the best basketball school in the region.

In this day and age you need football to do that. Can't do that in the Asun
