This thread could have ended with Montana/Marino, unless you think Elway is better.

We could potentially see another one to add to that list this year if Brees/Brady match up

Top 3 SB QB matchups based on how the QBs played during the season

1. Joe Montana vs. Dan Marino Super Bowl XIX
2. Bart Starr vs. Len Dawson Super Bowl I
3. Ken Stabler vs. Fran Tarkenton Super Bowl XI

Bottom 3 SB QB matchups

1. Bradshaw v. Ferragno Super Bowl XIV (Ferragno's season in 1979 is far and away the worst season by a QB who lead his team to the SB, only had a QB rating of 49 in 8 games)

2. Dilfer vs. Collins Super Bowl XXXV (I don't think I need to explain their place on this list.)

3. Theismann vs. Woodley XVII

1. Montana vs. Marino
2. Montana vs. Elway
3. Pick 'em - Starr vs. Dawson, Elway vs. Favre, Bradshaw vs. Staubach

Depending on how good Brees continues to be, #3 could easily be replaced with Manning vs. Brees. In fact, that could become #2 as Brees might surpass Elway. Manning already has.

To put that into perspective, Ryan Leaf had a career QBR of 50.

Brett Favre isn't even the best QB in the history of his own team.

The same could be said about either Manning or Unitas depending on whom one sides with in that debate.

Brady/Warner

Although a legit answer, Brady had not yet arrived at the time, and was no where near the level he is today. Always wanted these two to face off one more time before Kurt retired.
