The one thing about Tulane is that they really give outstanding financial aid to LA kids. If you get a 1400+ and have a 3.5 gpa, they pretty much gave 20-25K per year for each student, so that makes it a much better deal than for out of state kids.

That's nothing when u have to then find $35k to cover the rest. I loved the school but it is grossly overpriced. But the parents can afford it---trust me I was a student worker for TU financial aid.

Tulane really does have great financial aid. It cost me less than LSU would have, but I had both academic and need based scholarships

Couldn't have been me I haven't dined there since '09

I really hope our athletics prospers. BT isn't the coach for that IMO. we need to truly open the offense up..everyone else in our conference runs a spread and BT seems bent on recruiting subpar guys with good measurable in the hopes of turning them into quality players. Supposedly the Defense doing well this camp.. 2 guys from BT's first class, Philip Davis and devin Hollands (transfered to mcneese) made an NFL roster, as well as Pete Hendrickson (huge kid--I had biostats with him in '08).

Tulane only matters to LSU fans from New Orleans

Just like ULaLaf only matters to LSU fans in Lafayette

Other than to monitor the kids I know from Laffy that go to Tulane to play I have no reason to follow Tulane athletics. Just like an uptown NOLA family with Tulane/LSU ties has no reason to follow the Cajuns.

The City is the big loser should Tulane drop to D1-AA or lower. Wave good bye to any Final Fours if they do. There'd be no D1 school to be the host school, which is a requirement.

No it isn't.

A conference can also host. Sun Belt is HQ'd in NOLA.

You could have made reference to my post in that thread that said "Tulane has nothing to offer the Big 12 or any other big conference". Not all of us are that delusional.

I went to both schools and I'm a fan of both. I wish Tulane would get their act together and have the administration back athletics half as much as they do at LSU. I love LSU because we can compete for a national championship every year. I love Tulane because they do have "true" student-athletes and don't except JUCOs,pull for the underdog kind of thing. They don't have their own "Academic" center like LSU.
I saw first-hand how athletes are catered to at LSU. which is cool, but also shows a big disparity
between the two. That said, a competitive Tulane is good for LSU-see Auburn and Alabama. Every year there are more and more schools recruiting Louisiana and if Tulane can keep some of those players local, say Top 20-40 players, that keeps other schools from building a pipeline to New Orleans and LA. Tulane is the only school instate who could get to this level because of academics, location and powerful alumni nationwide. I heard David Filo, Yahoo founder is getting set to make a large donation. He's worth about 30 Billion

Winning solves everything. LSU in the stovall- Hallman years you couldn't give a ticket away. I went to a game during the curly years where it was basically empty by the third quarter with Miss. State drubbing our azz. The same respect, Tulane- La. Tech '98 people left because there were not enough ticket windows open. I didn't get in til late 1st Quarter and that place was electric.

what people don't understand is that new orleans was following that game and that '98 Tulane team in big numbers. whenever tulane went to the CWS everyone watched them. win and people will come. keep winning and the perception will change

(also back then no one ever thought LSU would win two national titles in the next decade and put up multiple 10+ win seasons)

Good point chalmetteowl. LSU was quite a different animal Pre-Saban. I also remember the super-regional at Zephyr field between Tulane and LSU. It was definately a pro-Tulane crowd. That shocked me.
