May be the first who tastes some success(Consecutive Bowl wins) but does not use Tulane as a stepping stone. He has never been part of a major program and may not have that want to return to one because of that.

He's already pretty old so its a little unlikely he would get a major job. He's a good coach though and perfect for Tulane.

Regardless, these guys at smaller schools sign deals like this all the time and it doesn't mean much.

He is a year younger than Orgeron. Not exactly a geezer in 2020. And I know a lot of these guys sign these but from what folks tell me, the guy has grown to like New Orleans. For the right person I could see Tulane as a decent job with much lower stress than moving up.

With the way the Sun Belt handled the Big XII this past weekend and the recent "respect" for the AAC, maybe those conferences will get a little more chance to make the Playoff/NY6 this weird season with the Pac-12 and, currently, B1G out.

Great news for the Wave. Fritz has proven he can win and recruit here. And certainly a low-stress way to make $10 million!

I’m glad we locked him up, but he interviewed for and wanted the Mizzou job last year. Not that I blame him, but I think he still bolts for bigger job if he can get it.

If he's never been part of one, how could he return to one?

What's the new buyout? Only thing that matters in these mid-major extensions

If he can consistently start keeping the Warren Easton, Edna Karr, and Catholic League kids here I think I would actually go to some games.

The problem with that is, a lot of those kids do not qualify based on Tulane’s academic requirements- even for scholarship athletes. The academic criteria is not high for football scholarships, but it’s higher than most other D1 programs.

Fritz has done an unbelievable job with the Green Wave though. That program was in shambles when he took it over. He’s built a winning culture and has recruited well- especially in the last few years. They have a RS Freshman from Ponchatoula starting at RB who is going to be a big time player. Also have Remetich from Holy Cross starting as a true freshman on the OL. 2 straight bowl wins and some National attention certainly warrants an extension. Good for WF

Norvell was a gambler and snake oil salesman (although also a great HC).

I feel like when Fritz missed on the Mizzou job, that was kind of his chance at the big time. He beats all of the shite teams (so he keeps his job with ease) but none of the good ones (so he can't really drum up big interest).

I think he's found his level.

Right. He’s going to have to win more than 7 games to get a P5 job

Seems like South Alabama is the benchmark for coaches lol. Southern Miss basically fired their’s after losing to USA while Tulane extends Fritz after beating them.
