I figured the college admins would fold quickly on football. But, Jerrah and Kraft and the rest of those knuckleheads are our last hope to get back to normal.

He's not going to call for the NFL season to be cancelled. NBA, NHL, and MLB are probably done though.

More likely Trump tells them to wait than to tell them to cancel. If leagues start cancelling seasons en masse this country's going to go bonkers. To some people the thought of sports coming back at the end of May is the only thing giving them hope

Trump wants things to go back to normal as soon as possible. If anything he'll encourage them to try to make plans on resuming.
My guess is he's telling them not to be hasty and cancel everything too soon.

I don't expect this to be the goodbye to 2020 call. Even if Trump felt that was he would not announce the decision at this point. There is still plenty time. Basketball and baseball are another story.

Lot of things the NFL can do.
They could kick the schedule rotation forward one year, cancel nonconference games, and start in October.
Worst case they can start in December and use a World Cup format.
NBA should take the division winners and one wild card. Screen the players, coaches, and refs. Set up in Vegas for a postseason tournament.
NHL should take the four division winners and send everyone to Minnesota with the same precautions.
MLB can wait for July to start or even August. If the season is too short, go to a no-divisions format and put the two pennant winners straight into the World Series. You could have a regular season of 42 games (3 game series against each league opponent, 7 home series and 7 road series).
