You don't think the way government handles all this has any bearing on whether or not sports will be played this fall?

Are you serious?

BREAKING NEWS: Gov. Gavin Newsom just said he doesn’t anticipate sports leagues starting up in September with full stadiums. (Contrary to reports of Trump expectations but maybe NFL is thinking empty stadiums?)

Well obviously it wouldn't be him by himself causing sports return, but the government's (state, fed) as a whole from top to bottom will have an impact. To act otherwise is foolish.

But yeah, it won't be him doing it by himself, like you said.

Can someone please explain to me why we are talking about this right now and not the immediate issues at hand in multiple cities experiencing outbreaks?

Nobody can possibly know at this point what will happen to football.

I will say this: If we are still locked down in august and september, I will feel like I was lied to. Why didn't the experts tell us the lockdown could happen for that long?

What is the point of these governors and mayors setting may 1, then june 1, etc deadlines?

Stop lying to us about how long the lockdown will last.

Is it possible that we arent being lied to and that this is an unprecedented situations and governments are making decisions as they learn new things about all of this

Any lockdown that extends into the fall is, imo, a failed lockdown.

If americans had been told early on that the lockdown would last 5 to 6 months, then they wouldn't have been as supportive.

mankind is not meant to live like this. It is unnatural and an affront to nature.

Do any other species on this earth "shut down" for 6 months when viruses hit? Nope.

I would be fine with a 2 month lockdown to handle the initial surge, but 5-6 months?????? No way.

California governor already saying he doesn't see fans in stands by September.

This should be fun.

I’d be fine if we started the seasons with no teams from California or New York.

I’m just saying if they don’t want to play, don’t make them play. But don’t tell everyone else they can’t play either. If the teams don’t like it then tell them to take it up with their governor.
