Imagine if they had Chase or Pitts to add to that offense with Samuel, Kittle, etc.

Instead they picked a raw, inexperienced QB from North Dakota State? Decent chance Lance will never be an above average NFL QB.

The 49ers are a Cinderella team, a draft pick won’t cost them anything. Luck is what they have and what they need.

OP has a point. Could you imagine this team with Chase?

How about the possibility of Jordan Love costing the Packers a Super Bowl?

They picked a WR the year before, and he was supposed to break out this year. It wasn't until camp that Aiyuk looked like a bum.

WR would not have made sense for them

Why they went with Lance? Idk.

But Jimmy’s throwing ducks out there. Don’t blame them for going QB

Are they?

They’ve seemed pretty win now and hyped for 3 years.

They only traded up to the third pick because they were going QB. Had they had faith in Jimmy G they wouldn’t have had the third pick so taking chase or Pitts wouldn’t have been an option. Also, they have Deebo and Aiyuk (who had a really good rookie season) so they wouldn’t have taken Chase anyway and the fact that you said Pitts when they already have Kittle says a lot about your knowledge of football.

They have plenty of weapons. Deebo, Kittle, Aiyuk and Mitchell are enough. It’s not like they air it out anyway. Chase would be wasted. What they really need is to invest in their OL.

Compton is solid and Trent Williams is a beast but their guards are weak as frick and Mack is declining. If they invest in their OL the next few years the way they have with their DL, they’re going to be hell to deal with regardless of who their QB is

They actually they were a couple of offensive penalties, in the Red Zone, from winning that game comfortably last night.

It wouldn't matter because Jimmy G is QB. If they win it's because of the D and Special Teams. Another offensive weapon would just be a waste because JG can't get him the ball.

The cost will be coming down the road. The Niners gave the Dolphins 2 firsts and a third so they don't currently have a first round pick until 2024.

I was talking to my buddies about this last week during their game. What if they had drafted someone that could be contributing right now instead of a backup QB.
We all know why they did it but in hindsight, was it really that great of an investment when you keep going back to the QB you are trying to force out?

They were in the super bowl the year before last. Were the favorite in the NFC last year before injuries dismantled them and are back in the NFC championship game this year. Wouldnt call it luck at this point.

They were 6-10 last year. In his first 4 years with the 49ers Jimmy G played in 6-3-16-6 games. At want point is it reasonable for them to question whether he can stay healthy?

Amazing how many brilliant scouts and GM we have on this board. I’m sure you came to this conclusion by watching hours of film and in person work outs and not because he went to an FCS school

They needed to win their last 2 games just to make the playoffs

They already have Kittle. No way they were ever drafting Pitts.

In what world would a team that has one of the 3 best TE in the NFL pick a TE in the top 5?
