According to PFT..it looks like they are trying to trade him and asked him not to come to practice.

The report concerning Darnold winning the No. 2 job said that the 49ers were considering their options with Lance and limiting his injury risk by keeping him off the field could indicate the team is looking to trade him to another club.

Trade him for what? Lance and a 7th rounder for a 6th rounder?

I think Trey Lance has gotten a raw deal. Dude got injured last year. He’s still a young QB. He was a project to begin with and he really hasn’t gotten enough game time to completely write him off yet.

He’s probably better than Desmond Ridder right now tbh. San Fran is a win now situation. He needs to go to a shitty team like the Falcons that will be running a college style offense with zero expectations.

They should be able to get at least a midround pick. Rosen went for a 2nd and 5th after the Cardinals quit him.

Idk about raw deal, but it wasn’t ideal for a WIN NOW team to draft his seeing as he’s definitely a project.

I’ve never had high hopes for him but I don’t think getting traded so early is a sign that he’ll never amount to anything. He just needs something stable and some playing time to reach whatever potential he has.

ETA: Maybe that’s kinda a raw deal

LOL. Ridder played a whole lot more games in college, 40+ IIRC, than Lance. And he elevated his team/program to never before seen heights. Lance played 1 season for the perennial power in FCS.

LOL. Arthur Smith can coach offense. He's gonna make a lot of people on here look stupid.

ETA: Just looked, Ridder was 44-6 at Cincy, so he started 50 games. That's unheard of in college.

The Bucs should be all over him. They're flushing the season with a more proven failure. Might as well throw a wildcard like Lance into the mix.

This is what happens when you let outside voices influence your decision on Draft Day.

Did Trey's friends go to his birthday party?

What a waste of a pick that was.

Well he's not better than Sam Darold, the question their beat writer had last week is he better than Brandon Allen?

Luke Fickell is the reason Cincinnati got as far as they did, and I think he's going to prove that at Wisconsin.

I wouldn't mind the Falcons taking a flier on Lance if they can get him at the right price. They liked him coming out of college, there's clearly a lot of physical talent there, and I have concerns about Ridder's accuracy. It was the one real big knock on him coming out of college, and accuracy is generally not something that improves a ton. Josh Allen is the ultimate anomaly in that department.

This has to be the least shocking development in some time. The writing has been all over the wall that Lance just wasn't that good for years. Purdy was an absolute godsend for the 9ers.

It was more than just a single pick though. They could have had like 6 pro bowlers but they picked an FCS QB. Purdy bailed them out from looking like the laughing stock of the NFL.
