One bowl game isn’t going to make or break their draft stock. Unless they were to get injured of course, which is a big reason as to why they opt out.

If a guy has a great frosh and soph season and projects as a top 10 pick why play the junior season.

Guys are opting out of high school seasons now.

It's all fun and games until you lose the fans and the money alomg with them.

There's got to be a balance between the team and "me, me, me".

I've already mostly lost interest in sports cfb especially, and I think many are trending that way, because it's becoming a garbage product. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

I wouldn't even care if Nuss sat this bowl game out. He's not going to of course, but realistically, why should he play? We're 1 injury away from punting next season because he has literally nobody behind him depth wise. Swann is not going to get it done and Hurley is years away. Why even risk it as this point?

He's also going to be playing behind a new OL. I think it's risky in a meaningless game.

Idk I mean I suppose they could do that. I don’t think it would go over well with NFL teams and they would certainly lose out on NIL money. I don’t think that’s comparable to sitting out of a bowl game.

This isn’t happening. TV viewership is going up, not down.

What exactly makes it a “garbage product”? Do you think the games aren’t entertaining? Do you think the talent level is going down?

Hunter and Sanders are already multimillionaires from their “NIL” earnings in college. Even if they suffer a career ending injury they are already set for life financially.

So while it is commendable for them to be playing, it is important to note that some of the guys opting out aren’t in the same financial situation as these two, so a bad injury would be a huge blow to their financial futures

Our players--and especially our leaders--should not be quitting before the season is finished, and they shouldn't be invited to stand on the sidelines if they do.

Bowl games are meaningless now. Who cares? I'd rather have a young player get reps and us lose.

With the playoffs, its either make the playoffs or who cares.

His Heisman speech was, like, "crazy" embarrassing. It was "crazy." I mean, it was so "crazy, ya know."

When was the last time you made a speech that was broadcast live to tens of millions people?

Ngl Travis is a high character kid. Not many kids with his mindset esp in today’s CFB world.

What!? You need to stop posting! This is ridiculous! He has loyalty! Many players on teams feel like that!
I’m hoping this drives home the point!!
You are a pathetic loser and quitter!!

No hate on the kid, he's definitely not my cup of tea, and was clearly the 2nd best player.

"Not my cup of tea". That's a new one.

Leonard Fournette started this quitting phase

Christian McCaffery opted to sit out of the Sun Bowl that year.

Fournette says Coach O told him he would not play him because Fournette had too much to lose if he further injured his ankle. When O announced it he said Fournette was not playing so he could concentrate on preparing for the NFL.

Shedduers father is the coach. He is Travis’s adopted father. I’m sure Deion is kinda in the ear of them. It’s in his interest moving forward for his players to play bowl games so I’m sure he greatly encouraged this.

Self-interest of Deion or not, these high profile players of his are still doing the right thing and setting a good example for others to follow. I don’t know about Campbell (though I suspect he has at least made “life altering” money already from NIL), but Jason Taylor as the son and nephew of an NFL player should be ashamed of himself.

Others mentioned LF7. In the days before NIL you could understand folks who come from limited means skipping out. Plus, he actually had been playing hurt all season. , McCaffrey did at the same time and doesn’t seem to get the hate for it.
