The future is HS kids playing for 15U, 16U, 17U, 18U teams during the school year.
Yeah kids who can’t make a HS team…
Independent teams not tied to high schools are the antithesis of high school sports… for the LHSAA to allow them, the high school principals would have to sign off on allowing direct competitors to their programs to come and take trophies away with less oversight
Now should high school teams be allowed to play them? Yes.

The elite kids will play circuit/travel/ whatever you want to call it ball and high school will be for the lesser kids

Hs baseball could be facing the same fate as legion ball.

That’s one of the issues but a bigger issue is prior to hs now parents have lots of options
Case in point years ago when I coached a 14 year old team we had 21 kids. Now nearly every team is 12….. kids never sit.

Lhsaa as will most NFHS associations will not allow their teams to play teams that are not members of their state assoc.

On sportsline it was posted about two brothers, one a big baseball recruit, leaving Sterlington to go to Bastrop… but since Bastrop doesn’t have much of a baseball program, he was only going to play travel baseball
But programs we’re posting about here aren’t Bastrop. Independent teams can maybe usurp the high schools outside the top 100 or 200 in Louisiana… but I can’t imagine a scenario where our parish gets behind the Chalmette Reign for example over Chalmette High. The history and media coverage is too much

In coaching for a high school; especially baseball which is the only sport many baseball player's participate in, and the sport where many parents are wacko's hanging on every pitch and hoping all the money they have spent pays off; there are too many constant threats/headaches/politics and too much pressure for many high performance people to enjoy their jobs. There's often more enjoyment, job security, personal/family time and dough in the private sector.
Game dynamics are often miserable too, even when your team wins. The "I" mentality of players and parents, playing time and positioning issues, demands from school leadership, etc.

I’ve only seen this here on this board. So who knows where Morgan lands.
Not related but BRCC hired a guy named Brandon Schmidt from Hendrix in Arkansas. Hopefully he can do something there. Uphill battle for sure

they are not going to be playing locally. will travel the state and play other travel teams and throughout southeast and texas.
doesnt matter who gets behind it and supports it.
it will eventually happen. I hate it and hopefully be after mine are done in HS but its going the direction where you will play for your travel team over HS team if you are a good prospect.
do not like it going that away. Louisiana will be one of the last state to go that away though, luckily.

actually Louisiana will be in front of it.

The future will be that stud plays on a travel team instead playing with elite coaches and travels the state and nation with other elite players. It’s far better development
High school will be for those who aren’t D1 caliber and not good enough for the elite teams

So is the south LA baseball model
Coach high school
Get good at coaching high school
Win a title
Go to marucci
I think the last two Catholic coaches did this and now the uhigh guy

Granted if I was BunkiePanther this post would be a little different…

Not worried about that… we hired someone on the shortlist of the best coaches we could get, a guy who’s been to state and had major leaguers before… now not every school will have that to be fair…
That elite travel ball won’t be cheap. They’ll need sponsors who are advertising on the outfield walls of… high school fields
Those kids already play elite tournament ball outside of the baseball season so they’ll be in top shape for… high school ball
The college coaches want them to play… high school ball…
High school may be for the nonelite prospects… until they see the big high school games drawing crowds those travel teams will never get
I’ll look at the positive though… it might destroy the business model for that school in River Ridge
