You really think ESPN is going to run the story on Tony Dungy's son being possibly gay?

Again. Believing that the government shouldn't sanction gay marriage =/= "hating gays

Lots of people I know don't approve of gay marriage but they leave it at that, they don't belong to and fundraise for a group to ban gay marriage.

I see what you mean, but I've really got no reason to trust the people who have reported it.

It means you have a strong dislike for them. Going out of your way to speak against homosexuals and promote a ban on their marriage shows me that he doesn't really like them.
I really don't think it does. And I'm not speaking on my personal beliefs here at all. This is the problem w/ any discourse in this country on any hot-button issue. There is always a rush to extend the other sides positions to an absurd level in order to demonize them.

You can be perfectly OK w/ gay people and their right to practice their lifestyle but against government-sanctioned marriage.

--Again, not speaking on my own personal positions. Just from a standpoint of tolerance of the beliefs of others. Just b/c you don't agree w/ a man's religious/political views doesn't mean it's proper to mock such a terrible thing as a child's suicide.

You can't not want gay people to get married and still claim to respect them. I don't care what the bible said, we clearly set up a form of government that is separate from the church. If you're working your arse off to ensure these people can't get married like the rest of us, you're insinuating that they are below your level.

Comeon man. You know it's more complicated than that. You can be OK w/ somebody and disagree w/ their lifestyle or a specific thing they do.

I completely agree w/ you here.

Tony Dungy wanted to BAN gay-marriage, which isn't even allowed in most states. The guy obviously felt pretty strong about it.

Right. He felt pretty strong about banning gay marriage. That's not the same as wanting to deport all gays.

eh, its closer to hating gays than not hating gays, imo

Wrong. My only point here is that it's in poor taste to mock Dungy for his son's death and to jump to the conclusion that the kid killed himself b/c he was gay and Dungy hated him. There's no place for that.

The whole "dungy doesn't hate gay people" thing is a side conversation and I'm only saying that simply opposing gay marriage doesn't mean you hate gay people. Dungy might hate gay people, he might not. I have no idea.

I disagree with someone's choices if it's something that's dangerous. Who's right is it to say that someone else can't enjoy something because of their sexual orientation? It shows a great lack of respect.

It's not off the wall for the two things to be related.

It's extremely dickish to jump to that conclusion and use it to make fun of the man b/c you don't agree w/ his political/religious beliefs.

it may be in poor taste to speculate about it, but it isnt some wild, rogue idea

Exactly. Most of my family is against gay marriage and there is no hate toward gay people.
ETA: None have exactly raised money to ban it, but they are definitely against it.

They probably really do dislike gay people. A lot of people in my family are anti-gay marriage and they don't like homosexuals.
