The last QB at Alabama to not win either an SEC or national title (or both) in their first full year as a starter was John Parker Wilson in 2006.
Wonder if their is a big difference with this years Bama team compared to all the other ones you just listed
Just a thought

2-top 5 matchups week 1. That’s probably never happened before.
I am sure it has. Especially when you consider preseason polls are nothing more that projections and produced to force narratives. No one questions that OSU, Clemson, LSU & TX are expected to be highly ranked until the results on the field prove otherwise. Therefore, why not have them all in your Top 5 or Top 10 so the media can run with the narrative about 2 highly ranked matchups in week 1

A bunch of LSU fans circle jerking over LSU fan media hack having them ranked high and Alabama ranked low

The love affair for OU continues. It’s crazy for a 6-7 team
Good defense, QB upgrade, OL upgraded, and there is no way the WR room is as injured this year as it was last year. I think the hype has gotten a little too crazy, but they should be significantly improved.

The fossil Tim Brando knows as much about CFB as my great aunt in the retirement home.

I just dont get the high rankings for teams with a new QB. Thats not ever how it works.
Excluding Alabama which has been mentioned, here’s some teams that won with new QBs.
2024 Ohio State
2014 Ohio State
2013 Florida State
2010 Auburn
2007 LSU
2007 LSU, your own team, literally started off preseason #2 in 2007 with first year starter Matt Flynn lmao

And you can kind of put Clemson 2018 in there as they had a new starter mid-way during the season with Lawrence

Ole Miss football is in a better place than at least a third of these.

I think you safely say you feel good about the national champs coming from this 15 team pool
I happen the think the pool is prob 8-10 with Clemson and ND being in there but it really being a who comes out of the B1G/SEC playoffs.
10-2 OSU vs an 11-1 UGA is a crapshoot today as would an 11-1 PSU vs a 10-2 LSU

He was worse to Bama than I was lmaoooo I'm all here for it but I think the talent on the squad combined with their schedule (most their hard games are at home) should translate to either 10-2 or 9-3 and an at-large playoff berth for the former, I'm not as bullish on their talent surrounding Simpson as most of the national media are (outside of Williams, I'm not impressed with their skill position players, I actually think Simpson will lead the team in rushing this year) and their defense showed enough lapses in their quality of performance that I don't think it will disappear like magic Year 2

1. Ohio State Buckeyes
Brando puts Ohio State in the spot they finished last season. Fresh off a national championship, he believes Ryan Day has another great opportunity ahead of them. We will learn something about the Buckeyes quite quickly, with an important Week 1 game at home. Based on Brando’s preseason rankings, it’s a top-five showdown in Columbus.
I cannot agree with this lol and I have them beating Texas at the Shoe Week 1
quote:
2. Clemson Tigers
After a few years down from the national championship-level standard, Clemson is ready to compete at the top once again. Brando slots them at No. 2 as the Tigers are the lone ACC team inside the top 15. Cade Klubnik projects as one of college football’s top quarterbacks in 2025. Pair with a defensive unit full of potential NFL talent and Clemson is looking for a third national title under Dabo Swinney.
3. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Recent seasons have seen the standard raised in South Bend. Oh, so close to getting back on top in 2024, Brando is high on what the Fighting Irish can be this season. Similar to Ohio State, no quarterback has been determined quite yet. But the roster constructed has brought enough confidence to believe Notre Dame will keep rolling.
4. LSU Tigers
All the way down at No. 4, we find the first SEC team from Brando. He is rolling with the very popular LSU Tigers in a year where Brian Kelly is looking to deliver on high expectations. Everyone inside the program has put a lot of emphasis on the season opener against Clemson. If they can go on the road with a win, LSU will be a lot higher than No. 4 in early September.
5. Texas Longhorns
It’s a new era on the 40 Acres with a quite popular man taking over at quarterback. Texas has been knocking on the door the past two years, even as the program transitioned into the SEC. Not many have recruited better than Steve Sarkisian in recent cycles. Now, finally breaking through is the next step with all the talent in place.
6. Penn State Nittany Lions
A popular preseason top-three pick, Brando drops Penn State down a few spots compared to national consensus. This is a team that returns a lot of players from last season’s College Football Playoff semifinalists. Drew Allar will be at the forefront, looking to finally elevate in his third year as the starting quarterback. If he can do so, Penn State has a great chance to break a ton of narratives surrounding its head coach.
7. Georgia Bulldogs
In terms of SEC teams, Georgia comes in third fiddle for Brando. Kirby Smart has previously played the underdog role to get his team motivated and may have some bulletin board material ready to go this season. Looking at the schedule, tough games pop up almost every week for Georgia. Depth will be just as important as top-end talent in order to get through 12 games relatively unscathed.
These are the 6 squads which I believe will or may achieve elite greatness this season, Miami with Beck being a darkhorse from that standpoint
I don't think the others listed have a particularly great chance at winning it all with exception to Oklahoma if they boom this year
