An already struggling league has just produced a Finals with two of the smallest market teams. I haven't missed a Finals in a long, long time. I am going to have to work really hard to watch this one.

ETA: Sorry, didn't see the other thread saying essentially the same thing.

So you will struggle to watch the NBA finals because they're small market teams? That's weird.

I don't watch NBA because it's arse now but the fact that two small market teams shouldn't be a factor.

Why? They play good basketball, what the frick does it matter to you if they're not in huge markets?

If it was Lakers/Celtics…

“This is terrible for the league. No parity!”

Actually, this could be good. Not the same ol BS and two teams that play solid end-to-end basketball.

Hopefully opens eyes to other players and reams.

if its a "nightmare" to have small market teams in the finals why even have small market teams to begin with?

Turn off the media that says its only good if its LA NY or Boston.

Basically turn off the media anyway.

People complain when all the media talk about are LA, Boston, and NY...then get mad when LA, Boston, and NY aren't in the finals

Its a nightmare for the NBA because OKC is a -750 favourite and will either sweep or win in 5 games

Pacers lose game 1 and they’re toast. Win game 1 and things get interesting.

Never understood the people that need huge market teams to watch or enjoy the finals. I just want to see good basketball and close games. These two teams should bring that.

OKC is having one of the best seasons of all-time but because they are OKC, nobody is talking about them.

Teams that have won at least 68 games:
2016 Golden State 73-9 (15-9 lost NBA Finals)
1996 Chicago Bulls 72-10 (15-3 won championship)
1972 LA Lakers 69-13 (12-3 won championship)
1997 Chicago Bulls 69-13 (15-4 won championship)
1967 Philly 76ers 68-13 (11-4 won championship)
1973 Boston Celtics 68-14 (7-6 lost ECF)
2025 OKC Thunder 68-14 (12-4 ...in NBA Finals)

Best Point differential of all-time:
2025 Thunder 12.87
1972 Lakers 12.28
1971 Bucks 12.26
1996 Bulls 12.24
2017 Warriors 11.63

The Thunder set the record for most 15+ point wins in a season with 40 almost half their games this year were blowout wins.

The Thunder also went 29-1 against the Eastern Conference this season

The last time the Thunder lost at home to an Eastern Conference team was in 2023

Not saying they are the best team ever...but they should be getting more respect for the season they had.

They played harder and wanted to win more on a nightly basis. Most teams these days aren't trying that hard in the regular season until they really need to. Thunder are a really hungry and deep talented team but Pacers are just as good and even deeper.

Not even close. The point differential between these two teams is the highest in finals history. Thunder also play in the tougher conference.

People just like to say stuff it seems. Doesn’t matter if it’s rooted in reality or not.

I guess I should have expanded on what I meant. They matchup perfectly with the Thunder to knock them off. If one team is built to beat the Thunder it is the Pacers.

That’s not true either. They have the worst isolation defense in the playoffs and Shai is the best iso scorer on the planet. They have no one to guard him. He averaged 40 a game against them this season.
