But Football officials only get about 10% of the opportunities to Perfect their craft that major league umpires get Every year. Pretty easy to understand why. It’s all about the reps.
Then NFL refs should be the best. They have more time to practice, analyze film, etc. without getting scrutinized. Yet, they can’t even spot a fricking ball.

100% for automations, but no challenges

My only regret is not getting to see the Angel Hernandez overturned percentage.

Strike zones aren’t one size fits all. You can still have human judgement and use the system for every pitch.
Kinda where I'm at. Ideally you have Pat Hoberg and you might let one slide if a dude is dealing. What we get is CB Buckner calling some shite eye high a strike.
If MLB didn't trot out Angel Hernandez, Buckner, and Wendelstedt so often it wouldn't be an issue.

Maybe. His zone is generally shite. He's adjusted and dealt with it though.

I kind of like the ridiculous unnecessary imperfections in baseball but I admit that’s an irrational stance.

yeah the portion of the game no one likes the human element.
It will remove the humans that don’t play for either team.

Good.
It's 5:27 and sports officials are still stupid.

How long until pitchers are replaced by the machine?

Other than the human making the pitch and the human trying to hit said pitch, the human element will be removed
Id be for keeping umps, if umps were so bad, fat and sensitive

It’s part of the game. Pitcher controls the flow, umpires have their own zone.

The fact that they're so bad that we even know their names is a problem.

Offense will improve substantially with known and consistent strike zones.

Same as sliding into second. Baseball was just fine for 100 plus years. Just because people can’t sit and enjoy the art and beauty of it doesn’t mean you change everything.

I’m all for a computer calling every pitch a strike or ball. Umpire can stay there and quickly deliver the computers verdict.
Win win win. Call is right, human umpire is still there and relays the call. Play ball.

MLB umps are by far the best officials of any pro sport.
I'd say NHL refs are the best.
Their ability to discern whether a play is offsides with an incredible degree of accuracy, at the speed of that game, is amazing.
And you never really "notice" NHL refs...they're never a prominent player in the overall event, unlike hoops and football.
