Uh sorry buddy but USC was Superman going into this game.

USC’s record was 1-1 in the National Championship game. Not much of a dynasty. LSU’s record was 2-1 in the championship game during that stretch.

Both are nowhere near what Bama is currently doing now but USC had more press and media hype back then than Bama does now.

Texas didn't dominate USC

No one thinks Texas dominated. Texas won by 3 because of a touchdown and 2 pt conversion with less than 30 seconds left.

If USC had stopped VY on 4th and 5 or had gained a 1st down on 4th and 2 everyone would say...dominate victory USC

If...
kinda proves everyone's point. No one would say dominant USC victory though. Would have been a hard fought victory by USC.

Was unaware turnovers don’t count

And Vince Young almost threw away the game on that final drive that nobody seems to remember.

You’ve still yet to point out when it was on the final drive.

Still would have burned game clock putting pressure on UT late in the game.

Hindsight is always 20/20 though.

That was in the first half. If anything it prevents USC from getting the FG as time expires to end the second.

He accumulated 467 total yards and 3 touchdowns:

---30/40 - 75% completion rate - 267 yards
---19 carries - 200 yards - 3 touchdowns

Texas had huge second and fourth quarters from what I remember. They made the plays when they had to, defensively and offensively. If that isn't telling, then I don't know what is.

Jesus Christ. ESPN ran a special comparing USC to the great teams in college football history BEFORE the national title game. That was an all time epic fail by them and it showed that USC was the one considered invincible. Texas was more than a touchdown underdog.

wait waht?

ESPN literally did a "which championship team in history would beta USC?" leading up to the game with one matchup analyzed per day

it's seen as the GOAT by many b/c UT was the one given no chance and Vince was Superman in the major upset

who the frick says Texas "dominated" USC when it took a magical 4th down run late in the 4th quarter for UT to get the lead?

Everyone remembers how awesome that game was- and rightfully so- but completely forget the Texas-Ohio State game to open the year. That game was incredible.

Lendale White was having a beast of a game and it was 4th and short. Why does everyone think Bush should have been in the game? White was their short yardage guy.

Also consider that USC squandered two would-be scoring drives in the first half (1 - Bush lateral, 2 - Leinart INT on ill-advised pass).

You could also point to the Texas TD on the VY pitch where he was clearly down. However, I think Texas would have scored anyways on that drive so that's kind of a moot point in my opinion.

I'm sorry, I'm having trouble finding their one win. It must have been wiped from history. More like no-peat

What is more amazing is that USC KNEW what was coming and could not stop him.............

Will you please stop referencing your age in every post? No one cares you were born in 1990.

USC lost that game with their dumbassery
bull fricking shite. texas was more talented (on and off the field), better coached, better prepared, and wanted it more. the only advantage usc had over texas was the officiating.

Yeah why would they use their short yardage bruiser on 4th and 1?

Texas was more talented? I know several Longhorn fans (objective ones) that would totally disagree.
