If Ohio State rolls through the playoff again I'd say it has potential to be one of the worst.

This year is the least I’ve watched college football since I was in middle school. I don’t find this season interesting at all.

Def not. Tons of upsets happening and no one cares really cause I’m not sure a single upset has knocked someone out of contention

The jury is still out. IF Ohio State rolls through the playoffs and wins it all, this season will be remembered for a bunch of average to above average teams competing alongside one dominant team.

It might just be me, but this season feels very…generic. Like none of it matters. I still try to follow along on ESPN.com and the MSB, but I haven’t watched any games since September.

I’m sure it’s interesting on some level but I’m just not on that level I guess.

Super conferences have ruined CFB by causing unbalanced scheduling and no clear picture of conference standings.

Absolutely this. Making the conference championship game is now far more a function of dodging the best teams in your conference than actually earning your way in.

Scheduling discrepancy was a minor problem before but a gigantic problem now. Given the number of games in a season, 12 is about the maximum number of teams you can have for a workable conference. Starts to fall apart quickly after that.

Certainly not.

I was enjoying watching A&M (almost) choke yesterday but then it hit me. That game was meaningless. They could’ve lost it and still won out to make the playoffs. CFP has cheapened the regular season match ups, which used to be the magic of cfb.

Even if your team sucked arse, you could pull off an upset and ruin someone else’s season. No longer.

Bingo. Current era college football lacks the magic of yesteryear. Can’t quite put my finger on why. Big match ups just don’t really move the needle in a ‘must watch’ kind of way anymore.

last year was a great season. this year is the same. parity makes the sport better as a whole. it's why the NFL is the most popular sport.

noone wants to tune into Alabama blowing out Vanderbilt.

Everyone tunes in when Vanderbilt beats Bama like last year or is at least tied with them at halftime like this year. record ratings

College footballs uniqueness is largely gone. And the big playoff is a big part of that feeling.

As you noted, teams are clinching playoff spots with multiple games left to play. It completely destroys the stakes at the top.

I've made the comment before that OSU/Michigan was the ultimate "frick you" rivalry because losing that game has historically killed your season, and UM and OSU have fricked each other out of probably half a dozen NCs over the last 60 years. But last year... it didn't matter. OSU lost that game, shrugged it off and won the NC anyway. (Avenging a loss to Oregon on the way too.) None of the regular season matchups mattered.

Think of the Kick Six. People remember that so fondly not just because of how crazy it was but because it flipped the dynamic of that entire season. Bama's hopes were killed, Auburn's were renewed. If that play had happened today, Bama still gets into the playoff so what the frick would it have mattered?

It's November 16 and there have been almost no huge must win games for both teams. Expanded playoff blows as does everything else about cfb now

Same here. There was some brief excitement with FSU for me but that crapped out in a hurry and even then with the horrific portal it didn't even feel like FSU, just random bunch of pickems. Some people love parity but I hate it, I love watching the underdogs try to knock off the giants instead of having 50 average teams all beat each other every week. NIL, portal, realignment, even things like taking the SEC off of CBS and wasting Brad Nessler on frickin PSU and Iowa. GameDay sucks too. The higher ups have basically done everything humanly possible to ruin CFB

see that's the shame of being a fan of a college football power, you don't have an enjoyable season if you're not in it. This is a fun season for college football fan

I love the Indiana's and Texas Techs having a great season. Oklahoma is having a hell of a turnaround with that defense SC is looking like they're a team again and Ohio State sits there the same Ohio State

this is fun

You know with Texas beats GA, the best teams of the SEC are going to be former Southwest Conference teams, old school

How'd that work out for you?
