Yeah - I would actually do Strip House in the villge and then hop on the express train from union square.

It's my personal favorite. Otherwise you could go to Keane's chop house near MSG and take the B/D train to the stadium (also express). Keane's is more historic but I like strip house. You will get raped with a bad steak in the stadium.

But it's your money I don't give a frick what you do with it.

Is that inside or outside the stadium?

Outside. Half a block away down River Ave. Has a pretty good pre-game atmosphere.

Riding the subway there is one of the best experiences of the trip. Don't cheat yourself.

this. I have been to the old yankee stadium a few times and the subway is the only way to go.

Well generally about a hour out the subway is packed full of people going to the game. It's pretty neat seeing all the people. I usually come from Times Square so there's quite a few stops in between.

The subway is underground in Manhattan and goes under the river as it crosses into the Bronx. You come out of the subway tunnel and the subway transitions to above ground right as you are coming upon Yankee Stadium so it's pretty cool.

I don't really remember much except a McD's across the street filled with homeless people.

But yeah subway is the easiest way to get there. Just make sure to grab the express train if you're coming from the southern part of Manhattan.

Fighting the crowd to catch the subway is way cheaper and easier than a taxi or driving. Also atleast with the old stadium you come out above ground right by the outfield. I think with the new stadium the station is closer to home plate though.

I go to a lot of Yankees games, and the only pregame beers for me come from Yankee Tavern on the southwest corner of 161st and Gerard. It's the only place that's ever free of douches. It's mostly old townies and blue collar guys, most of them nice, and the bartenders are the least terrible in the area. Pretty good bar food, too.

All this subway talk has me thinking of another question.

Will the Subway be safe for 2 7 PM games (Tuesday and Wednesday) with me and my wife going all the way back to Midtown??

Yeah absolutely. The car will be shoulder to shoulder with fans.

Unless you jump in front of it, it's completely safe.

After the game, maybe take a lap around the old stadium (Heritage Field now--you can walk on it) since the subways will be crammed. I'd rather walk around outside for 35 minutes than wait underground in the heat for 25.

Perfect. Even all the way in to Times Square? Sorry if this is a stupid question. Have absolutely no clue how far it would be. My wife has done the majority of the planning to this point.
