The question is what team from the East will start spending money to match up with Cleveland.

The Spurs are going to go after CP3 and if they get him will give GS some competition.

You're on the right track. There are too many times. Everyone knows contraction is a major need to improve quality of games, but the NBA isn't going to care as long as they're profitable. They're trying to make money, not give us quality games.

People are going to not care about the product when their cities team really has no hope of doing anything special. That's why NFL is king right now because any team can pop up and be competitive and the cities are excited.

I think most teams (like the Celtics) are going to continue to make moves in order to be right there waiting for when Lebron eventually hangs it up. It doesn't make much sense to spend now and then be in a bad financial position when Lebron retires.

There's been like three...two involved in this game.

Cavs, Heat, GSW...who am I missing? I wouldn't classify the Celtics as a superteam...all their players were either drafted or acquired through trade.

Clips don't qualify.

Boston counts. Why don't the Clippers? Just because CP3 is a natural loser doesn't mean they aren't a loaded team.

Nah. Aldridge looks done. He's blown a tire or something. He was awesome in Portland.

The thing about the Celtics was that it was 3 players teaming up in the twilight of their careers. That's been done before. Houston in the 90s, Lakers in 04 and so on, but when LeBron and Bosh went to Miami, it created this wave that it could be done in the prime of your career and win early instead of fighting the good fight as a main guy with pieces around you.

Its bad, it waters the NBA down and there's no drama. We've seen the East be sub-par for well over a decade now and LBJ has taken advantage of it, especially with the stacked teams he's had. Its not gonna change until Silver and the owners are forced to and that won't be soon. I say go to a hard cap only, 3 protected players and make em spread out. Make it competitive rather than this watered down crap. I mean this is exactly what I called in October outside of the Kawhi injury and that series going short.

The 1984 NBA finals consisted of 9 Hall of Famers Yet, people think the super teams started with LeBron

Umm I believe it's the other way around. So many people have been quick to discredit LeBron for going to Miami and taking the "easy way out". It'll be interesting to see the reactions if GS finishes this series off.

In fairness, in probably 4 or 5 of those 7 Finals runs many people were clamoring about how LeBron either wouldn't make it to the Finals or was vulnerable and may lose before the Finals. It started with the Bulls, then it was the Celtics, then it was the Pacers, and this season with how poorly they played to finish up the season, many were saying this was Lebron's best chance to miss the Finals.

We do the same revisionist thing with MJ, acting like it was a foregone conclusion he would win those 6 titles, when every year there was much buzz about each team being the best chance to take MJ and the Bulls down.

I just dont understand people acting like they are similar

The heat were 47-35 and 43-39 with two first round playoff losses the year before LeBron joined. Bron joined with Bosh to try and bring a core of great players together to make a super team

Golden State was 67-15 and 73-9 with an NBA title and Nba fnals loss the two years before KD joined. They were already a super team

So it makes complete sense why someone would hate one and not the other.

I can also see how people would hate both

Sure, KD went to a much more stacked team.

But in the end, both players felt their current situations at the time was not a spot they could win a title in, and both players went to situations that drastically increased their chances of winning a title.

In the broad sense, they're comparable. KD went to an already stacked team. LeBron/Bosh teamed up with Wade to create a team who wasn't already stacked but that everyone knew was immediately stacked.

KD is a pussy vagina

He is like the guys who play sports video games on the easiest difficulty and hit the reset button before they are about to lose

ya, what KD did would be more like Lebron joining the 2009/10 NBA champion La Lakers

i find his move much more egregious

Is it really a superteam when 3 of the 4 guys AS-level guys were drafted and developed by the same team? That is just luck and good scouting/player development.

There have always been "superteams". That's not really the problem per se. The problem is that there is no foil for the Super Team. The Lakers and Celtics had each other, obviously. The Bulls won six titles, but there was nearly always a team to push them to the brink: the Pistons, the Blazers, the Knicks, the Suns, the Sonics, the Pacers, and Jazz all took the Bulls to 6 or more. The Heat under LeBron had the Spurs, and so on.

The issue is that the Warriors have so thoroughly dominated this season that the playoffs just aren't interesting. Eventually, the cap will take care of the problem so it won't be a long term issue, but it just means these playoffs have sucked. It happens.
