I'll just hope this team doesn't play its way out of the playoffs.

Last night fricking sucked. Chapman has gotta learn he can't just throw 103 mph fast balls. We should only be down 3 1/2 games. Oh well hopefully we can bounce back sweep the mets and take care of business in Fenway.

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and stop you right there. That was a fantastic piece of hitting by Devers more than a mistake pitch.

Just imagine how much lower that 2.19 career ERA and how much higher than 15 K/9 would be if he just learned not to throw it 103

LOL. Im pretty sure thats like the fattest pitch hit in 20 years or something. For sure you absolutely can JUST throw 103 mph.

It was the fastest pitch hit for a HR since they started tracking velocity. 102.8 MPH.

Let's go Sox baby!

I didn't mean it like that. I'm just saying you can't just just sit there and throw fast ball after fast ball. I have watched every game this season besides maybe a couple. He had just blown three fast balls past Hanley then had 2 strikes on the next batter. He should have thrown a change up or slider. He was sitting on the fastball. Good win last night though and the Red Sox lost

I don't believe that, every team has a few players who throw 100+ now. 103 is freaking fast but players can catch on after seeing those time and time again.

There really aren't that many people in today's game who can consistently throw 100 for strikes. There are people who touch it and sit in the high 90s, but Chapman hits 103 and sits in the 100s. He has built his career off it. Maybe people are finally starting to catch up to it, but I have a feeling we will look back on this year as a flukey blip

Every team has a couple of pitchers in the bullpen who has a pitcher throwing 99-101 consistently. Hell the Yankees have Betances and Chapman who are both can hit 100 consistently with their FB, the Red Sox have a few, every team has that one pitcher who has a FB they can consistently hit those numbers.
The other day Severino was hitting 100 in every inning up until he was taken out in the 7th. It happens Chapman throws hard but he doesn't seem to have any movement on his pitches. So when he misses he misses in the middle of the plate. Hitters are too good and have seen it enough that they are expecting it, he really doesn't seem as effective this year with any of his pitches, he is just wild.

joe Kelly from the red Sox is the only reliever qualified for the reliever leaderboard who has an average velo over 99. Chapman has is at over 100

he's getting the same movement as he always has. I think we've seen him enough to know that even when people are expecting it, they can't deal with it

Girardi is still the manager. I am fully expecting the Yanks to crash and burn harder than Hillary Clinton running for President.

I'm sure you pulled your avg velocities from fan graphs, another site I used had Chapman at 99.4, Kelly at 99.1, and Rosenthal at 99.
Yet that doesn't means teams don't have multiple players who consistently can reach 100. Players have adapted which is why Chapman went from 40% K rate on his FB to 25%.
