Now are you really going to argue they don't see high heat as much?
i have never said this. i said that even with the rise in velocity across baseball, players dont see pitchers like chapman who throw as fast as he does, as consistently as he does, and throw for strikes as consistently as he does to "get used to" his fastball
quote:

They can sit back and totally know what Chapman is going to throw because it is all he can throw.
and this is no different than at any point in time in his career. relievers are known to have random years where shite happens. i dont think he is the only pitcher being affected by people "getting used to" high heat when there are pitchers who are still having fine seasons who dont even throw their fastballs as hard as he does but throw it at the same rate

Players see plenty of pitchers who hit 100, Chapman has been hitting 103 this year but straight down the middle.

When Chapman entered was one of few, now he is one of many. There was a time we we're amazed by 100 mph now, not much so

However, they don't see Chapman consistently, but when you've seen two other relievers that throw 98-101 then you know what to expect from Chapman. It isn't like he developed a off speed pitch to fool you

you also dont expect to only see the high velocity thrown for strikes 4 straight times. you see that once or twice at bat and even then, its not like you see them for strikes all the time

he is using his off speed pitches more times this year than he ever has. hes used his fastball at a lower rate than he ever has by face

and once again, if hitters have gotten used to that level of velocity, i dont see why chapman would be the only pitcher affected

with Chapman you do, it is all he does effectively this year
It won't copy and paste the second part, but has he effectively thrown his secondary pitches? No so that point is irrelevant. He can throw them more for balls all year.

If any of you Yankee fans need another reason to hate the Red Sox....

They were the last team in MLB to integrate. The racist bastards held out until 1959, 12 years after Jackie Robinson made his debut.

but has he effectively thrown his secondary pitches? No
he has a really similar profile when it comes to velo and movement for his secondary pitches this year compared to his career. this year screams one year blip that he will come back from totally fine from next year. if he has randomly become the only pitcher to be affected by people getting "used to" high velo pitches than i dont know what to say but i would be insanely surprised

I'll disagree from what I've seen his secondary pitches haven't had as much movement. I also think he has been the most impacted because he got by, by throwing hard. Other pitchers such as Kahlne have 3 pitches and gan get hitters out
