imagine how badly the cavs would have worked the warriors if they didn't have injuries last year.

It's crazy when you realize that they lost 1/3 the amount of games they lost all season in one series alone.

This Warriors team actually reminds me a lot more of the 2001 Mariners. They overachieved by playing at a historically great level in the regular season before it all came crashing down to earth in the playoffs.

Fair, but like I mentioned in the in-game thread, you remember that 2001 Seattle team, as do many of us, but you probably can't name the 2001 World Series champion off the top of your head.

In 15 years, you'll remember that Golden State won 73 games and you won't remember who won the 2016 NBA title.

Is the regular season win record worth more than a title? No, but the fact that it gets you remembered for much longer has to mean something.

I bet plenty of people remember Arizona beating the Yankees on a walk off bloop single in Game 7.....

That Pats team doesn't deserve to be mentioned with the GOATs. Win a championship or bust

Then we've got some real sports fan amateurs here cause that was maybe tGOAT World Series. Luis Gonzalez with the walk off in game 7 for the Diamondbacks.

I couldn't remember if that was 2001 or 2002 myself. My overall point still remains - this Warriors team is different than your typical "best team to never win a championship" vibe. The regular season record still means a lot in the NBA IMO.

Fair enough - people remember the 2001 Seattle team but probably can't name the 2002 World Series champion. Better?

Without cheating I could remember every NBA Finals since the 80s and every college football season and natty champ since the mid 90s.

Other than that it all flows together. Even Super Bowls I'm pretty hazy

We're not giving enough credit to OKC.

People forget that they were supposed to be this good. In 2012 that was just supposed to be the beginning of perennial Finals appearances. Of course circumstances (namely injuries) derailed them, or else they might have done this last year.

It's an unwritten rule that non championship winning teams don't qualify to be in GOAT team consideration.

Patriots got to the Super bowl and lost on one great play.

If GSW loses in the conference finals, they will be like the Chicago Bulls, who lost to LA Lakers (Wilt, Baylor, and West). No actually not like the Bulls. The Bulls won three and the Lakers won two in OT and won the 7th game on the last play. The Bulls with Sloan and Chet Walker were better than the GSW.

Plus the Lakers won the NBA. Thunder may be rolled by the Cavs.

The Angels won it all in 02, thanks to the Giants blowing it in game 6.

A really good team that no one will talk about because they couldn't win it all.

I can only speak for what I see and hear daily, but I can tell you that people bring this team up a lot, for both good and bad reasons.

As discussed in another thread, the single elimination of the nfl playoffs can provide fluky results. Ask almost anyone and they will tell you the patriots were better in 07 than the Giants, and plenty of people still consider the 07 pats the best team in recent memory.

If okc wins this series, you will be hard pressed to find someone that will try to argue that golden state was the better team.
