The Rose Bowl is a sporting venue that lives up to the hype

I went in 2014 for the first time and the place definitely has an aura about it. Recommend that any of you who might have a team in the playoff there make the trip.

The view of the mountains in the late afternoon during a football game can’t be beat IMO. Much less the history and California vibe of the place.

Meh. The view was nice, but the stadium itself is so antiquated. Takes FOREVER to get to your seats once in the stadium. I guess it’s cool to say I’ve been, but I would never go back.

True. And the bathrooms look straight out of 1935 but to me that adds to the charm.

I don't think anyone has ever called it the best stadium

The stadium itself is obviously dated as hell, but the experience is cool to have at least once.

What I found amazing was the stadium is basically in a neighborhood and it is surprisingly difficult to get to and out of the venue

It's not even really in a neighborhood per se. It's at the bottom of a ravine that is completely surrounded by a neighborhood

Amazing stadium, would like to see a football game there. Saw Coldplay at the beginning of October and it was awesome. Geting out of the parking lot (golf course) was a bitch.

Well Yeah...Two of the oldest stadiums in America reside in L.A.

In CFB only the Coliseum and the Rose Bowl are two ancient stadiums still in use and basically unchanged since 1920.

Coliseum is going to have remodeling, etc...despite being declared a National Monument.

I think it would be sad if the Rose Bowl went all modern too.

We all don't need box seats and garlic fries at every sporting event.

But Notre Dame changed, everyone wants modern creature comforts and a giant press box.

True on boxes. But garlic fries would be nice.

It's an old stadium that needs a makeover. That said, the setting is beautiful, unlike anything else in college football.

If you don't enjoy tailgating on the golf course and the whole gameday experience of the Rose Bowl, you're doing it wrong. *

*ucla regular season games (SC excluded) are the exception.

Regular season games meh.

But there is something about the Rose Bowl game.

After the Rose Parade, it has the most Pagentry.

It's the Kentucky Derby of football.

It took me two hours just to get my car off the golf course after the game

Probably why I've never cared much about the Rose Bowl game. I hate that stuff.

The Rose Bowl just looks different. From the way the field is painted, to the lighting. You can tell even in close, tight shots on TV that it is the Rose Bowl.

Its about an 11 hour drive for me and I am determined to make it out in the next couple years
