Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman proudly waited outside the visiting locker room after the final buzzer to give LeBron James and the players on his victorious new-look team an appreciative fist pound on Sunday afternoon. Injured forward Kevin Love yelled out, “There you go! There you go.” Sharpshooter Kyle Korver gave a
look of pleasant surprise. Guard J.R. Smith yelled out, “We got an [expletive] squad now.” And before James hit the locker room door, former NBA great Kevin Garnett hugged him and said, “Y’all look so different.” “At the end of the day, I like being around guys that want to win and work hard,” James said. “I know I demand a lot of excellence in my teammates. I demand it out of myself, too. On the road, we are going to play as well as we can and put ourselves in contention to compete for another championship. And that’s my mindset.”

quote:

I spoke to JR Smith after the game. JR, LeBron, Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love—the only four guys remaining on the Cavs from the championship team of 2016. And JR said they had a conversation on the plane. And he said, ‘Man, look at all these different faces we have now.’ And LeBron said, ‘Yeah, but we got a squad now.’ And he actually said, ‘We have a fricking squad now.’

To be fair, they started 2-0 and it did look like the trade had made them a younger and more potent team.

Wasn't the hottest of takes at the time.

To be fair...they’ve been decimated with injuries, not even counting Kevin Love. Hood just came back last night and TT is still out (and is about to leave again with Khloe’s pregnancy). I must admit, it is fun watching the Cavs lose though.

You would have thought they were the best team in the league listening to talking heads during the all-star break
No, you wouldn't have.

You're making things up.

Sam Amico touched on this at the time when the losses started to pile up.

5-7 since the All-star break.

4 of the 5 Cavs wins ?

Grizzlies, Suns , Nets & fading Pistons .......

A split with the Nuggets is their best win.

Karm knows his hoops. That is not disputable. Even the best of us get it wrong sometimes. No even the best of us get it wrong a lot. NBD.

Sounds like king crab couldn’t put his ego aside to his own detriment. Sounds familiar to the kyrie situation.

Let’s not compare Lebron to a player he has finished behind in the mvp race three of the last four years.

as a LeBron fan, i totally agree.... he's really the only one to blame for this, and he's gonna leave Cleveland holding the bag at the end, watch... tarnishes him, IMO, a bit, but he's still a once in a generation player...

but this team ain't going anywhere.... and there's no one in the East that can compete with the Top 2-3 West teams.... Portland is just as good as anyone, right now....

Psh. I’m not worried about this team at all. Kevin Love is coming back. You can’t judge this trade for real until the playoffs.

to me the trades have only continued to be affirmed with Isaiah running his mouth in Lakerland.

They’re literally missing an all star and their second leading scorer. also thompson and Hood are out.

Y all come at me if they get bounced before the Finals.

Bron didn't want the Cavs to trade Kyrie and said he'd fix the issue during training camp.

IT is a banged up volume shooter that's a detriment. Anyone saying the Cavs are worse without him shouldn't be talking basketball.

I will pick Lebron to come out of that conference until one of those East teams proves they can beat him. That’s before or after the trades that were made. Kyrie and Boston knocking him out would be as funny as it gets. I’d love to see that.
