Of teams that have played 6 games this season, only the Patriots have given up less points than Dallas. Even including the teams that have only played 5 games, Dallas would still be ranked 5th in points allowed. Meanwhile Dak Prescott has only passed for more than 250 yards one time. Dallas is Alabama and Dak Prescott is McElroy. Dallas is winning with defense and a punishing run game. They've simplified the offense through the air to make it easier on Dak. Romo comes back and Dez/Witten are immediately more of a threat and the deep ball is something teams have to respect again, which will open up the run game even more than it already is.

This is not to say that Dak hasn't done an amazing job as a rookie. He's better than anyone could have ever hoped he'd be and will be a great QB for the Cowboys in the future, but as of right now Romo is still the better QB and gives Dallas the best chance of winning. All of this is prefaced with the fact that Romo is coming back fully healthy and performing to his normal standards. If he comes back and isn't performing like he did when he was healthy, you obviously pull the plug on him and give the team to Dak. But until Romo proves that he can't perform, he's the better option. It also gives Dak valuable time to watch a veteran lead the team and learn from him. Just because you sit Dak behind Romo this year doesn't mean he's not still the guy in the future. But Romo isn't Joe Flacco or Kyle Orton. He's one of the statistically best QB's for the better half of a decade.

tl;dr: Dallas is winning because their defense is actually good for once and with the run game. Dak is a game manager and Romo is the better QB. You start Romo until he isn't the better QB.

No one has seen Romo play a good game in over a year. Why are you so confident in this?

One thing Dak also gives is a potential running threat. So on a zone read, maybe a linebacker is a hair slower getting to Zeke because he has his eyes on Dak for a little too long.

Dude cant stay on the field. He has won a single playoff game.

You have a QB that has made the fewest mistakes of any rookie QB in history and is leading the team to a 5-1 record. Regardless of Zeke having an all time start the game is still won on the QB.

I fully expect that senile fool Jerry to ruin what could have been. Put it in the history books of what a clown he is

He ran one time for 6 yards against Green Bay. This is so overblown. He has 20 runs for 67 yards this entire season.

If you legitimately think Romo is the reason they can't win in the playoffs, you need to pay more attention. Dallas hasn't had success because they haven't fielded a defense worth a shite in 20 years.

Romo will be injured and out for the season after the first big hit he takes.

That's not what I'm saying at all. A QB that can provide the threat of running can take defenders out of position. Especially in the red zone.

Along with having no running game to speak of up until that 2014 year.

Then Romo calls it quits and you put Dak back out there. You lose nothing from putting Romo out there.

Real reason they are winning is those 5 hogs on the O Line. They open up the running game and give Dak tons of time to throw. None of this is possible is it wasn't for Dallas drafting and developing that O line.

Romo 2015: Long 39 yds 20+ 7 40+ 0
Dak 2016: Long 47 yds 20+ 15 40+ 3

Romo's deep balls must have been dipped in cold water in 2015.

He played 4 fricking games and was hurt in 2 of them

At least do a little research first. Romo's last full season he threw for 3700 yards at a 70% clip.

They have been doing what they need to do but the scheduling has helped them tremendously this year.

They really haven't played a great team yet and time will tell if they have it or not.

That defense wasn't lights out yesterday. Rodgers had opportunities to score yesterday. He is just a shite show at the moment

It is astonishing how non-Dallas fans are all of a sudden tremendous experts on Romo and the franchise as a whole with Dak doing well.

Before anyone slings shite at me for similar reasons, I actually try to keep track of the Cowboys due to family supporting them. 2nd favorite team behind the Panthers basically, and until Dak destroys defenses like Romo did in 2014, Romo is still better as far as I'm concerned.

That said, you are right about the defense being good for a change.

ETA: None of that is an indictment of Dak. It's just the current situation is all.

You leave Dak in. He's the new franchise QB. Don't destroy his confidence. If Romo wants to play next year he should get traded to a team like the Rams or Texans.

Dak Elliot Dez and that O Line make the cowboys fun to watch again

I know and Dak had better long ball #'s in his first 4 games than Romo's 4 games. 2014 is ancient times in rib, collar bone, and back bone years

19th in total defense

Dallas leads in ToP and total 1st downs, 2nd in yards. Dak just one INT, just one.

But that defense is the REAL reason why Dallas is winning.

And 2nd in average points allowed. Doesn't matter how many yards they get if they don't score. You win with points. Not yards. Dallas is keeping people off the board and forcing turnovers.
