The current owners just bought the team. They are about to build a new stadium in Tampa. Why would they sell the team?

Rays fans are great. There just aren’t very many of us. It sucks because transplants raise their kids to be yankee/sox/etc fans.

It does baffle me that the lightning were able to draw solid attendance at the trop, but the rays never have been able to

That area is fine for going once a week on sundays a few times a year but people won’t want to deal with the traffic to see them regularly, especially if they’re not good

I’m a Pinellas baw with the quarter season package. Going to miss taking the kids out for those games. Their school was sponsored by the Rays so we have a soft spot for them off the diamond.
I’ve still got my half season Bolts package to lean on. The Gandy isn’t as bad as the HF. I only make a few Bucs games a year due to kid sports but I hate that drive to the stadium.

I’m rooting for the Rays because I feel like them winning it might bring back a resurgence of old school baseball with an emphasis on bat to ball and running.

The Rays are about to experience that (1) it’s actually good for your stadium to be where the fans are (Braves, 2017) and (2) it’s ideal to not play in a complete shithole so shitty that it actively discourages people from going on its own
Add whatever pro-competitive roster measures come out of this CBA and the new ownership group keeping stars on the roster for more than a few seasons and all of a sudden the Rays are giving the region reasons to go see them instead of avoid. Some people can already see it coming but in 10 years when we look at the state of the franchise it’s going to dawn on everyone else that what they thought was an apathetic market was really just Stu Sternburg
There’s arguably never been a more retarded time to give up on the Bay. These factors are going to force the Rays into becoming an actual MLB franchise
