Going to be very interesting to see who moves on. I think this is the offseason where Theo moves players off the big league roster. Any combination of Almora, Happ, Schwarber and Russell could be gone. I just think Theo missed the boat on getting a premium return on any of those guys. They won't resign Murphy. I'm hopeful they pick up Hamels' option. I'd be really surprised if they didn't land at least one big time FA bat (Harper and Machado are the obvious candidates), mostly in reaction to the crappy offense in the 2nd half.
David Kaplan of NBC Chicago is really connected to the team. He was on Chicago radio yesterday saying that his sources told him it was 50-50 on Maddon returning if he lost last night. Seems like Maddon and Theo are butting heads. The candidates he listed to get the job were Girardi, David Ross, and Mark DeRosa.

Firing Maddon for Ross or DeRosa would be downright idiotic. Girardi is the only one with a track record (not a bad one at that) but I still think that would be a mistake.

Bob Nightenfrick says Maddon is staying thru 2019, but no extension

That's what always was going to happen and I'm sure it's the last time we will talk about his contract status over the next 18 months

ESPN said Maddon is expected to keep his job. Was that even in doubt?

Should have breaking news on Addison Russell’s situation momentarily. Suspension forthcoming. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-40 games.
it's official

40 games for Russell.
Go get another infielder, and hopefully we can get something of value for Russell at some point.

All I know is we need to fire Chili. After that business is taken care of we need to find a reliable bat or two. It would be nice to find a couple players similar to the Zobrist mold, but I have a feeling we will end up getting one big name and that's it.
Pitching was fine at the end of the season, Darvish was a mistake. Chatwood at the time seemed like a great pick up, but baseball
I like the starters, Quintana could step it up a little, and the bullpen is in good shape.
I wouldn't hate to see Schwarber, Russell, Happ, or Almora be traded. Sucks, because I had a lot of hope for them.
Should be an interesting off season.

Does anyone know if the 40 games is retroactive? He’s likely missed 15-20 already.

Yes it is retroactive, I saw he has missed 11 but that may have been unreliable.
