It isn’t “scripted.” That would be almost impossible to pull off. Are there occasions where the league office has a desired outcome? Yes. Are the officials working the game generally aware of that desired outcome? Yes. Does some frickery happen as a result of this? Yes.

This Dolphins - Chargers game is crazy. Miami just score a TD to make it 36-34 and they miss the PAT. Chargers can win it with a FG. 1:45 left in the game.

I don't what is going on in the NE-Philly game, but it is a bit bizarre. Each team has taken turns looking like they have no idea how to offense, and then they look unstoppable. And lo and behold, you have a one score game under 2 minutes with a really bad decision to go for it on 4th at mid field.
