This. I barely even watch the Saints anymore, and there was a time not so long ago when it would take a major life event to make me miss a game. Don’t even really miss the level of engagement that I once had with the league.

I hear you

It was definitely childish of him. But I figured he was just watching the NFL’s childish move.

But my god he and his crew are annoying with all of their yelling - just stfu and talk normally.

Yeah, but that’s his whole schtick. If they didn’t sit around in their tank tops yelling at each other like the bros that they want you to think they are, what would be their appeal? And as unappealing as this is to most adults, it’s a formula that’s working for him.

Putting aside the fact that I like the show...

Why would the NFL do this to a former player who talks about their league to a big audience daily? Are they trying to pump him for money, or are they trying to shut the show down?

Their protect the shield facade is such bullshite. Look at all of the crap that comes from owners and players that would hurt or shut down most small businesses.

I hope he goes in dry with insider knowledge of the dirty stuff the NFL does.

Putting everyone's feelings for McAfee aside, this is the correct take.

the NFL is so stale right now a lot of parity due to mediocrity, too many rules that affect too many games due to refs not knowing when and what to call…it all just feels so meh

Feel like we have said this for a while but NFL continues to dominate interest in this country

McAfee can talk all the shite he wants, but he needs the NFL a lot more than they will ever need him, his brand, or his show.

Yea I’m sure the saints being a C tier team has nothing to do with it lol.

You think his fans give a shite whether he doesn't use team names or logos? He'll probably keep doing it anyway just to annoy them.

drawing the line at his moral code over logo usage? Plus he seems to be well overplaying his reach, him suddenly covering CTE won't make the general audience start to care about it. People mostly just don't.

While I agree with your overall point, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the NFL asked him not to discuss CTE on his show. So his comment is just throwing the pettiness back in the league's face.

Antagonizing the NFL will be a bold move for someone whose brand wouldn’t exist without it. We’ll see if it pays off.

They can stop him from talking to players, saying city names instead of team names, etc?

All I’m saying is that it would benefit him more to work with the league, and not in opposition to it. But he’s such a cool dude, I’m sure he’ll be fine.

Exactly. This is the type of thing that (maybe only temporarily) will boost McAfee's popularity. People don't hate NFL teams (well some do) or football, they hate Goodell and NFL incorporated.

If people want to shill for mega corporations or "non-profits", then go for it.
