Scot McCloughan was fired because of a relapse related to alcohol, the Post reports. Hopefully the brilliant mind gets help.

Redskins have been leaking that for a while now. It's plausible, but I wouldn't consider it gospel

This. Dan Snyder is one of the few owners that I think would try to fire someone for cause to avoid paying 22 months of salary.

That and the fact that the Redskins seem to be run worse when the alleged alcoholic isn't in charge.

Source who knows Skins brass told me months ago this was EXACTLY how it would end. It was most cynical thing I'd heard. Then it happened.

Here's some more:

Workplace culture in Ashburn involves fridges of beer in almost every exec's office. The owner had Crown Royal muscles when he got Shanahan.

We want to play the smear-the-relapsed-recovering-alcoholic game let's talk about functional alcoholism among some current employees, OK?

Former pos. coach to me: "Bruce Allen brushes his teeth with Coors Light." What a healthy workplace environment to bring an alcoholic into.

Social drinkers of renown, Bruce Allen & Dan Snyder bringing Scot McCloughan to Ashburn was like hiring a gambling addict to deal at Harrahs

LINK from Mike Wise
quote:

While watching NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” game between the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts, the four men drank glasses of Sassicaia, a bold Tuscan red that is a Snyder favorite, those who were present said. They added that Snyder eventually graduated to Crown Royal.

Finally, Snyder turned to the others. “Let’s go get Mike Shanahan,” he said.

quote:

Within minutes of Snyder’s request at the airport hangar, calls began flying back and forth between representatives of the Redskins owner and Shanahan. About two hours later, Shanahan had agreed to meet with the Redskins’ brain trust — but when?

“Let’s not wait for him to change his mind,” Snyder said, those who were present recalled. “Let’s go now.”

Snyder’s confidantes still marvel at the impulsive decision, yet they say it encapsulated the way in which they often did business.

“A lot of calls, a lot of booze that night,” one participant said. “We were just like four college roommates drowning their sorrows with alcohol after our team lost. The difference was, one of our college buddies was the owner of the team. And he called an ex-coach to make him feel better.”

I don't see anything wrong with that. If I was a billionaire NFL team owner, I'd get smashed when I watched my team too.

Pretty good contract for the Titans too. The corner market is pretty thin right and the Titans had to find at least 1 starting corner through FA and will probably draft a couple more. Hopefully Ryan can be the #1 corner for that money. He seems to be more of physical corner rather than a lockdown corner and we could use a lockdown corner.

Not really a guy I would want as my #1. Definitely not "lockdown". But one of the best #2 corners in the league and is pretty versatile, plays the slot role really well. Hell pair up well with the other McCourty

There was some speculation about Jmac being released but I doubt that happens at this point. Didn't see it posted in here but the Titans also agreed to terms with Jonathan Cyprien who's an in the box safety. I was hoping for more help in coverage because our secondary got absolutely torched a couple times last year. I was hoping they'd draft Jamal at 5 but I don't see it happening now. More likely is we trade it since JRob is a patriot protege

I could see the pats scooping up JMac if he gets cut. Pats still need a nickel guy and he could reunite with his bro

Seahawks bringing in Jamal Charles, seems like they drafted Prosise to do what you'd sign Charles to do

Honestly think they should sign Mart. Bennett and trade Graham for picks to someone in the AFC that can maximize his skill set better, although two Bennett Bros on one team could either be amazing, maybe even Martellus being on O would take some of the perceived heat off them from the d; or it could end in disaster.

I'm hoping the Raiders grab Bennett we need a TE bad, and per reports there is strong interest on both sides.
