i do think SVG has been a real problem and hopefully he's getting out of the team's way, at least on offense

in that thread questioning Zion from a few weeks ago, one thing people overlooked in my comments was putting a lot of the blame on SVG

if Zion was playing under Gentry again no doubt in my mind he'd be playing better on offense over the course of this entire year

defensively, he's still a work in progress, which is one of the primary reasons SVG was brought in. so what's the point? Zion finally is blossoming again once SVG abandons what he wanted to do. it's frustrating

I don’t see a problem with SVG in Zions play. Zion is already incredible offensively and you have to credit SVG for adjusting and going Point Zion.

The issue with SVG is team ball. The roster doesn’t make a lot of sense and SVG hasn’t figured out how to used it and his defensive system is CLEARLY flawed this year and refuses to adjust. It wasn’t a good hire. He’s just too old and set in his ways.

Should have hired a Will Weaver type.

that's why i said he's getting out of their way on offense, which is good

that's the thing. he's not really running and offense AND his defense sucks arse. he's just...bad all around

Zion is the explosive Tractor Trailor with marginally (and diminishing) better knees.

It took Robert Traylor 290 games to get to the point total Zion has reached in 48 lol

You’d have to add up like 5 of Tractors season averages to get Zion’s right now. Good take though

why do you value defensive rebounding so much for a wing?

1. He's not a wing

2. Its the mindset and what he's putting his energy towards development wise. Being a fricking PG or rebounding/defense

If you’re going to blame SVG for the way he was using Zion (which is largely the same way Gentry was using Zion last year), then you should also give him credit for the adjustment he’s made with Zion the playmaker.

This guy is clueless. It's clear he doesn't watch many basketball games. Makes me feel embarrassed to be a Verlander fan

I love Zion he should be the best player of his generation and a once in a lifetime talent. This generations Shaq. But the NBA is trying to turn him in to Eric fricking Bledsoe

I don’t think any rational person could not think he’s well on his way to that right now. The only person in his “generation” that has an argument right now is luka.

Morant is great but the gap between him and zion will continue to widen.

So you think the Pelicans are wasting Zion by not making him focus all of his energy on rebounds? That’s what would make him a generational star? Rebounds? Why not just trade him for Andre Drummond then?

The switch to Point Forward has unlocked him into an absolutely incredible level. He’s averaging like 7 assists a game over his last 8.

He’s already a top 20 scorer in the league.

He’s averaging less than 4.5 assists over his last 8 games and calling him a top 20 scorer in the league is plausible but also a bit of a stretch. He sits at 15th in PPG currently but is ahead of guys like AD, James Harden, Devin Booker, and Donovan Mitchell, who are all better and more established scorers than Zion is. I have no prob calling him a top 25 scorer though.

he shouldnt just be limited to rebounding his own misses. He should own the glass on both ends.

Pels are 2nd in the league in offensive rebounding, 4th in defensive rebounding.

This ain't the hill to die on.

So he's ahead of those dudes scoring more points per game than them AND scoring more efficiently than those dudes, so...
