Horrible use of statistics
No, but of course if you're going to call out my use of statistics then maybe you should provide some support or it. I do have a master's degree in statistics so I would be happy to get into the nitty gritty of probability and statistics.

The point of bringing up wins above a replacement player is that we have a basis for a relative comparison of LeBron's minutes.

I also calculated the pythagorean win expectation of the Heat based on his on-off statistics, and his box plus minus statistics, and every single data calculation points to roughly 40 wins minus LeBron and with league average players filling in as a replacement. Now of course, they could find better quality to replace his minutes. But they would need to be above average to borderline all star level player minutes.

Sp with all the injuries to prominent role players, really creating a lack of quality players behind the Wade and Bosh, the natural growing pains of new personnel, AND not having one of the top players of all time in his prime, then it's asinine to think they would be a 45 win team.

OKC and San Antonio were just as talented as the Heat. Boston was too at the beginning when they had Rondo before Pierce and Garnett got too old.

OKC was favored in 2012, San Antonio was favored in 2013, Miami was favored in 2014.

LeBron has been in 8 Finals. His team has been the underdog in 6 of them.

I understand what you were getting at, but let's not act like peak Derrick Rose was anything special at all.

They shite the bed versus Dallas. They played superhuman last year versus the Warriors.

The only series Lebron should be kicking himself about was Dallas. They shouldn't have lost that one ever and today's Lebron wouldn't have let that happen. Was a terrible performance though.

The first year with the Cavs is one most people won't really appreciate but that team was garbage. There is no way he should have taken them to the finals. The second best player was probably Mo Williams or someone equally pedestrian. That might have been the worst supporting cast around a star in the history of the finals.

Anything special? Peak rose was very good. What is your idea of something special?

When it's obvious you don't need to provide much support...

You're removing the best player on the team who has the ball a majority of the time and takes up a pretty good chunk of cap room. Then you replace him with an average player. Then you use the stats from the team with him on it which has an effect on how they play and what their stats are because of him and extrapolate from there. That's just ridiculous.

You're severely overestimating the predictive value of your models. Using stats to predict the win total for a team that never existed is sketchy at best. It's no more proof then me saying they would win more than 45...

You're just as bad as the people who took the -12 +/- number from game three when Lebron was sitting and extrapolated it. Are they worse with him on the bench? Of course. But are they -12 in 2 minutes worse. Probably fricking not.

I'm also laughing at you for throwing this in there

ETA: oh and I forgot to add the little thing about we're talking about the team with Lebron not the team without Lebron

Great. But you left out the only year we were talking about.

He was pretty damn good. I wouldn't expect him to compete with Lebron/Wade/Bosh by himself though. He was no Jordan

Most assuredly not, it qualifies the origin of the statement, should you choose to believe it.

No need to qualify yourself.

Given the fact that the third poster responded with

People hate the lebron fanboys much more than they hate lebron
I can understand why a poster would feel compelled to qualify his statement.

But in a different (non-TD setting) I would generally agree with you.

this is the board where a bunch of people constantly chime in to discredit LeBron's accomplishments and trash him for every single thing he does, no matter how well he plays.

Now we're getting somewhere! So since all these meanies "trash" LeBron on a message board that HE doesn't even know exist a bunch of "serious sports minded adults" have to defend him...against a bunch of nobodies who try to tear poor LeBron down.

Thank goodness there are some serious sports minded folks around here to defend LeBron. What in the world would he do without ya'll standing up for him...

Lebron earned all the hate with 'the decision'.
Though none of it matters to me as I haven't watched one second of an NBA game this year. They have alienated the casual fan.

Everybody has a different reason for hating lebron that brings us all together. My disdain for him comes primarily from the fact that he's a social justice warrior.

I think people are sick of people making excuses for LeBron. He loses this finals and he's 3-5 .....3-5 in the finals sorry but the greatest player of all time should not have lost more than he won. And please do not say he had no help he may not even be the best player on his team much less the league

Yeah, LeBron's not a bad person so why hate him? Jealousy and envy obviously since he's accomplished so much in his remarkable life.

Mo Williams wasn't there yet in 2007. The second best player on that team was either washed up Z, Daniel Gibson, washed up Larry Hughes, or Drew Gooden.

ETA: Replace LeBron with a league average player and that team struggles to win 15 games. Put him on the current Nets and they probably win 45 games.

he is the best player in the league right now and it's not even close...... he has tried but just doesn't have the right help around him...... the only thing I hate is when people compare him to MJ...... yet I don't blame him for that....

I used to hate Lebron but since he returned to Cleveland I've grown to respect him.

You need to go sit in the corner and think about things for a bit.
