Steph was better this season. Even though his team was better, as a player, he added more value to his team.

MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER, MOST EXCITING PLAYER, any of those awards yes Curry should get...but not Valuable.

The Warriors are about to win 2 different Playoff Series WITHOUT Steph Curry...They set a record for 3s(then to be broken by the Cavs) for most 3s in a game..without their "Most Valuable 3 point shooter"..cmon the Warriors are a system team that has been chugging along. They are continuing to play great without him and would continue.

the Cavs as a TEAM were really good and underrated when Lebron was there - when, in the regular season, they out-performed a super-team that had prime Lebron leading the way.
Well the rest of the team didn't show up in 2008-2009 though when they lost to the Magic.

I agree also with him, where he says CP3 would come in 2nd if the award was seriously on VALUE

CP3 goes out for the season after Clips up 2-0...boom they lose 4 straight to Portland...He led the Clips all year without Blake Griffin...I mean cmon.

Look beyond the LeBron hate on this board and look at VALUE

But he added more value than any other player in the league (VORP, EWA) even when controlling for the rest of his team.

The Cavs top 5 in minutes played in 2011 all averaged over 20 minutes per game the previous season. 4 of them were 2 through 5 in minutes played the season before.

Just saying, I don't think that anyone else in the league was more worthy to win PLAYER OF THE YEAR more than Steph Curry; unbelievable season. LeBron is easily the best player in the league and the MOST VALUABLE

If that award even existed, Curry should win that one too

They actually measure and quantify value, and they still show Steph being most valuable.

Minutes per game? How about actual games played.

The top 10 played 523 TOTAL games in 2010.

The returning players played only 270 total games (most games related to bench players from 2010) with a brand new coaching staff.

"Most valuable player" doesn't mean most valuable to a particular team. That's a ridiculous and silly definition.

It means who is the most valuable player in the league. As in, who was the best player in the league this year?

I've made a post refuting that a couple of times already on this board. Basically they started the season mostly healthy and the roster mostly intact; LeBron and West were the only notable losses as Big Z and Shaq were net negatives the previous year. Through 35 games they were 8-27 losing games by 10+ on average. The major deconstruction of the roster didn't start until about midway through the season and they were already on pace to be one of the worst teams ever.

Yes talking "value"...not best scorer, best 3 point shooter, hottest player...

More listening...an NBA scout called in and multiple scouts across the league believe if you put Damian Lillard on the same Warriors team that they win 70+ games still....which isn't a far fetch and I'd agree with as well.

You cant replace 6'9 255, 0 % body fat, 2nd fastest player in the league, can cover PG-C....I mean that's value... simple

Varejao played in 31 of those 35 games. Mo Williams played in 28 of those 35 games. Jamison played in 32 of the 35 games. Anthony Parker played in 34 of the 35 games. Gibson played in 32 of those 35 games. Moon played 27 of those 35 games games. How did the Cavs do? If your thesis is correct that the Cavs drop off was mainly due to roster changes we should only see a slight drop off. Almost all of the Cavs main rotation players played in the first 35 games. How did the Cavs do?

The Cavs started the 2010-2011 season 8-27 and were losing games by an average of 9.1 per game. That is a drop off almost unprecedented in NBA history. By contrast, in 2010 the Cavs won their games by an average of 6.5 per game. This is a 15.6 swing in MOV. In those first 35 games, the Cavs played

There we go. It was actually "only" 9 points per game.

Still went to NBA playoffs and lost to Orlando in the Conference Finals..(Where MJ played in the playoffs)

cmon now...you compared a team that was 16 games under .500 to a team that finished 3rd in the east and went on to lose in the NBA Finals....

It just shows how much this board is butthurt over how good LeBron is
