The Spurs to me are still a very good team, that just got better without really losing anything.
If Tony Parker is healthy and plays good, they are just as good as the Warriors.

i cant see why he cant play exactly how Klay does. Harrison Barnes was a ball stopper.

as a guy that routinely flirts with 50/40/90 he can play in any system. He'll have tons of open looks that he doesnt have to find on his own. He'll be in heaven in this offense.

The Spurs will never break the curse of the Thiagbino. Never will they win until they Splitter up this ancient group.

Spurs have merely average at best guards, and the most unathletic frontcourt in the league. They'll win a lot of reg season games but pose no threat at all to Golden State.

Turning him into Klay Thompson takes away the advantages that Kevin Durant has.

My guess is that Durant will be Durant and Klay Thompson's role will be reduced.

What was it in the WCF? The Finals?

I agree, but I see this as more hopeful thinking than actual facts and how it's going to play out.

They're going to be good, bottom line. But they have no bench and no C, but make no mistake a team with Durant, Thompson, Curry and Green is going to make some noise and will likely be in the WCF if they can figure out how to play together.

Edited for clarity.

are you saying he'd rather create his own shot than have someone else do it for him?

3. Kevin Durant is an isolation player. Golden State's offense relies on running off of screens, passing, and shooting. How is Kevin Durant going to mesh with that offense? Is he going to change his game to fit the system? Or is the system going to change to fit Kevin Durant?

He's coming to GS so that he doesn't have to do what he did in OKC. He's going to thrive in this offense.

Well, I guess we'll see.

Durant is going to do just fine. It's the offense as a whole that I don't see getting any better than it was.

cool hot take Hansel!

but seriously, you cray to think the offense won't get better. You can't double anyone anymore in the GS starting 5 w/Durant taking Barnes place.

I'm sort of surprised at the reaction on here. Who wouldn't trade Barbosa, Ezeli, Barnes, and Bogut for Durant? This is the no brainerest of no brainers that ever no brained.

Obviously I'm bitter af, but I will die laughing if it doesn't work.

And I think you have valid points. People are definitely not taking defense into consideration. Teams with talented bigs MIGHT be able to give them lots of problems. Wouldn't shock me to see a Clippers' type squad really throw a wrench in their expected waltz to easy titles.

So a Durantless lineup of death relegated most bigs to the bench, but one with Durant is going to be super vulnerable? I guess. You're basically just saying that you think Barnes is a better defender.

It's gonna work... I mean they are still going to be really really good.

I just don't think this makes them better.

I don't think there is a team constructed anywhere in the world where acquiring Durant doesn't make them better--incremental though it may be.
