quote:
every time he carried the ball the UCLA players rushed over to pick him up so he had less time to rest.didn’t matter though
John McKay fed OJ the ball so much that reporters complained that he was over working him.
McKay's response:
"The ball's not that heavy. I'll tell him when he's tired. He is not in a union. He can carry the ball as many times as we want him to."

First one I remember is Charles White in Tiger Stadium, 1979

Gino Cappelleti for Penn State, played against LSU in the Orange Bowl following the 1973 season - not impressed - we shut him down and Brad Davis outrushed him that game.
Probably one of the weaker Heisman picks of my lifetime.

John Cappelletti averaged 5.32 yards per carry in an era where it was the run trap game.
He was basically taking a dive run on every play...and the defense knew what was coming.
His QB threw for 13 TDs and 5 Ints for the season.
And Penn State beat LSU n the Orange Bowl. So tell that to Joey.

I was going to say Ki-Jana Carter because that dude was an absolute beast, but looking it up, he came in 2nd.
Like many in this thread, Eddie George vs Illinois. Brent Musburger on the telecast even called it saying "Ed Dee George putting up more Heisman trophy numbers!" on one of his long runs up the sideline. Such a dominant performance.

Reggie Bush probably. Didn't really follow college football outside of my Cajuns before that

Charlie Ward, but I don’t remember too much being so young. The one I probably remember the best is Charles Woodson.

Bily Sims. My dad and I went to see OU vs Rice at Rice Stadium. Sat on the OU side about 5 rows up from the field behind Sooners bench. Billy was unstoppable and only played in the first half. Second half he came out in a brown suit with huge lapels. He was walking along the first row shaking hands, doing photos, and signing autographs for alot of the 3rd and 4th Q. OU fans were coming down from other sections to get autographs and photos. Fans with front row seats stood on their seats to allow other people to get their time with Billy. Was a different time and place back then for sure.
It was awesome seeing him as kid.

Ricky Williams on TV
For some reason haven't seen a lot of Heisman winners in TS, in part due to a relatively lower pct for SEC, and also just happenstance I guess (missed Tebow, etc.)
I guess it was Ingram in 2009 but I don't even remember him from that game. McFadden in 2007 far more impressive and impactful.
