Gets paid millions of dollars to play a children's game, gets pissed off when the people paying him millions of dollars tell him to stand in a different area of the field

ETA: it's not like this guy is a dentist and the hospital CEO is telling him that he has to perform heart surgeries this year. What's the worst that could happen if he goes play first base? He sucks at it?

Thru 16 games, Devers has an impressive .210 average, 2 DONGS, and if you’re into advanced stats, has a -0.2 WAR

Giants 15-25

Devers:

Breslow doing nothing at the trade deadline to grab a legit starter is inexcusable imo

IDGAF about Devers, he should have helped this team w a bat at 1st and a starter there's no excuse for doing nothing and giving his alignment excuse

Trading Devers was the right call because frick his feelings. But, what Boston got back for Devers they basically turned it into Dustin May with the deadline trade.

I see both parties at fault.

I can see cutting Devers a little slack if they had tried to move him straight to 1st and this was not communicated with him

But initially they wanted him to DH and give him time to transition to 1st, but the latter was not an absolute necessity

There is no way Cora didn't explain everything to him and mediate the situation between the FO and Devers too. Having been with Bregman all those years, Cora certainly conveyed what kind of teammate he is yada yada.

Then when you look at it from Red Sox FO side, they chose Devers over Betts to invest in. Betts goes to LA and plays all over the field and wins a championship. Sure Boston could have possibly did more to not step on his toes, but ultimately, signing Bregman was out of the question for Devers.

He wanted his top dollar pay and to tell you he was playing 3rd base as the worst IFer in the league. I feel like what he has done in SF thus far is a result of the same reason he couldn't make it work in Boston. It's all about him and the team is of little concern to him.

Boston beat cancer AND dumped salary. Big winners if you ask me.
