The biggest mystery in college footballPosted by BamaIsGoat on 1/13/21 at 12:02 am

Is how UT isn’t insanely good every year. It blows my mind that Texas is so average every year despite having such an advantage when it comes to recruiting.

Why can't LSU find a DC who wants the job

Same question could be asked of fsu, Florida, usc

Bama, LSU, Oklahoma take a lot of Texas HS recruits. Also with TCU and Baylor being competitive now, they get a lot of talent out of the state as well.

Yes and they hired the coach who wore a grill.

The best Texas recruits leave for SEC teams (mainly Bama and LSU), Ohio State and OU.
Also, outside influencers on the football program. They're a college version of the Dallas Cowboys.

Well with pending Title IX issues it sure doesn’t help.

Because UT's culture is soft as hell.

Texas high schools all became Friday Night Lights and lost their dawg mentality when the stadiums got too nice

Because they haven't had an elite recruiting HC since Mack left, it's really that simple

It really is. The only team in the B12 who has a comparable level of talent is OU. And it’s not like they’re in a shitty location like Michigan or Nebraska.

They were the 5th most talented team this year (53 blue chippers).

That's not a mystery. The answer is the fan base/The Rant.

I know they've got talent but there's always a couple of possible program changers that they usually seem to let slip away. The kid who committed to OSU off the top of my head. Mack could not only keep those kids but also pull some away from top teams in other states. I also think a lot of Texas high school kids get a bump in rankings or even an extra star just because they're in Texas. UT has a lot of 4 stars running around who probably should've been 3 stars
