BYU Kansas Akron Troy Missouri South Florida Temple are who they lost to. I believe only two of those are P5 and that’s counting Kansas (lol)

Yea, it was a bad bad day for the conference, but OSU won, so they won the biggest most important game

They are all important if you ever want a shot at having two teams make the playoffs

After that performance Saturday, the big 10 champ will likely have to be undefeated to get just one team in

USf and Mizzou aren’t exactly bad losses

Purdue lost to Eastern Michigan the week before. Is that a bad loss?

So 6 unranked teams lost to 6 also unranked teams?

No excusing the Wisconsin loss

OK, but what about Temple (who's down this year), Akron, BYU (who won 5 games last year), and Kansas (yikes) who put up a 50 burger

Exactly. As long as OSU wins all their games, they're in. Who cares about the rest of the conference. They can all ride your coattails like the SEC does with Bama.

In most situations, I would think PSU and OSU were the likely 2 going into the season. Those teams could both end 11-1 or 12-1 (13-0) and have a case. OSU will have the better case at 11-1 with the win over TCU, but I don't want to think about PSU beating OSU again

So much ignorance

Having the SEC not suck, allows Bama the comfort of losing a game each season and knowing they will still make it

Any P5 conference champion has the comfort of losing a single game. The only reason Bama made it in last year was because the other two conference champions (Big and Pac) both had 2 losses.

Bama generally loses 1 game during the regular season.

Bama has made the title game twice without playing in the SEC Championship game.

You think they still do if the rest of the conference is THAT bad? Stop.

These teams would disagree with you in the CFP era:

2017 Wisconsin
2016 just so happened to have four 1 loss teams
2015 Iowa
2015 Ohio St
2014 Baylor
2014 TCU

3 undefeated P5 teams - almost never happens (last time that happened was in 2009 when an undefeated Cincy from the Big East was left out for Alabama and Texas and before that was in the 1990's before the BCS system was even instituted). And they would've gotten in over OSU had they had the title game, which they do now.

Would've gotten into the playoff had they beaten MSU (who did get in) in the B1G title game

2017 Wisconsin

Would have been a close call with Alabama had they beaten OSU in the title game and I think they would've gotten the nod

In this discussion, it's basically considerations for Alabama and then considerations for everyone else. LSU wouldn't have gotten the benefit of the doubt last year in Alabama's position. Nor would have Auburn or Georgia or anyone else not named Alabama.
