Must not be that awful if you were listening to it enough to know that it was a topic on there (I'm assuming today)
Also it's hard to pick a singular "day". Super Bowl Sunday and the first Saturday of CFB (week 0 is usually like preseason and not many good games, I'm talking that first real full slate of Saturday games) are what comes to my mind.

The late March/Early April weeks - MM, Masters, Opening Day MLB
The Mid-August - Labor Day time frame - CFB and Premier League starts
Both are enhanced by theoretically good weather.

The first week of the summer olympics. Idk why but I like watching the swimming more than track and field. Plus the bike race is usually the first week

I love Labor Day with the start of college football and U.S. Open tennis. The following weekend also gives you pro football. But, it is hard to beat NHL playoffs, NBA playoffs, baseball, golf, and tennis in the spring.

4) Kentucky Derby
5) OSU/Michigan game - Usually same weekend as rivalry weekend so it goes right into the Iron Bowl
