George Halas- had a reputation for being cheap. One ex-Bear said he handed out fifty-dollar bonuses like he was really doing something.
Another former player said "Halas throws around nickels like they were manhole covers

Having to sell the naming rights to your stadium in order to pay your QB is never a good sign

It’s really stupid to not pay a worthy player.
So many owners just having a hard time with the new market for non-QB’s.
You can’t pay your star D-end $5M a year anymore.

Tanner Hudson might be the worst TE in NFL history

That is the second saddest thing I have read this week; had it not been a week where a daycare worker beat the shite out of a child, it would have been a winner.

it really is a shame that probably the two greatest players LSU has had in baseball and football are stuck with the two cheapest professional sports organizations on the face of the planet. Both of them deserve to be on championship caliber teams and they’re stuck with pennypinching and general managers owners.
At least Burrow got paid.
It makes sense, Louisiana is one of the trashiest places in the world.

You really just wanted to say that, because it in no way makes sense as a reply to that post

Being the son of Paul Brown was too much for Mike Brown to try to live up to, the game changed way too fast for him…to this day he goes to every practice and thinks he can make personnel decisions.
His entire next in line are all family Ivy League attorneys and they run the business in that manner…unlike other teams.
They each would be wealthy individuals in the corporate world, but by far their biggest asset is the Bengals.
Other teams have outside billionaires playing the ownership game for funsies.

The Brown family owns the Bengals.
The Walmart family owns Denver and the Rams.

The Bengals are the cheapest team in NFL history??
They have a top 3 paid QB, the top paid WR and the highest #2 paid WR in the NFL
They can't spend infinite dollars everywhere.
I do agree they should pay Hendrickson but they put themselves in a bad position with paying all 3 of the above

They should try playing competitively before November.

They should have paid Burrow, Chase, sent Higgins packing for assets. I mean, all your money is tied up on a QB and 2 skill players, none on defense or the trenches.
Then the way the Bengals have dog walked Shemar and Trey on negotiations. Saying management does not negotiate, take it or leave it. Well hell, they sure bent over for the offensive guys. Wtf!

Whether or not you care, they inarguably have two of the biggest names in the sport on their team. Plenty of people care about the Bengals

You forgot to mention that they don’t have to waste their own time complaining about anything. LSU fans will do it for them

This is one of the very few times that I can actually see what the Bengals front office is doing and can somewhat understand it.
Hendrickson is their defense and really need him, but what they've already paid for the core of their offense and his age they are in a very tough position.
There is one thing that currently dooms franchises and that's dead money. The Saints are a perfect example of how this comes back to burn you. With his age and what kind of contract that they would have to give him, they know that there is going to be a pile of dead money attached to that contract and a likelihood of only getting one or two years out of him before performance deeply declines.
The game is a business and you can do long-term harm if you end up with dead money on the books.

Yes. They are the cheapest and worst run org.
They used to give players 1 home and 1 away jersey, it ripped, u paid, or fixed with shoelaces and such.

Sources: The #Bengals have re-started talks with All-Pro DE Trey Hendrickson on a new deal for 2025.
My understanding is the two sides have been exploring a more “unique” avenue to get something done. Giving Hendrickson more money this season while still letting his contract expire after the year — has been discussed.
“More work to do, but there’s cautious optimism,” a source said.
