The Braves will miss some of the better Dodgers starting pitching.

We should be able to take 2 of these games sending out sale and strider for the first two. Idk who is going to pitch game three probably Elder since he prefers to go on normal rest and doesn’t want extra days in between starts and we had the off day.

The dodgers haven’t played like a top 5 team recently but they definitely still are

I’m much more concerned with strider than elder. I get his first start back was at coors but he looked rough.

Mookie has been injured. Good chance we don’t see him.

back in L.A. almost a month to the day Walt hugged Jorge -

Braves were 6-5 on the season after game 1 in Anaheim April 6 - Atlanta's 20-7 since that dust up with the Angels on April 7 -

Wrobleski has been one of the best pitchers in MLB this season.

Dude has been dominant.

He looked how he's looked for the majority of MLB starts that he has made since 2024.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure that there is a ramp up process with him anymore. The lack of zip on his fastball may just be who he is at this point.

Don't have the exact avg, but he pretty much sat 93-95 all game and touched 96-97 a couple times.

He was clearly overthrowing the fastball too, because a lot of his misses on that pitch were up.

Thanks I didnt actually see his outing in full context just highlight clips on youtube.

I think its fair to say with certainty he cant be a power fastball and tunnel the slider off it as his way of pitching solely any longer. Needs to work in the curveball more maybe

Yep, unfortunately he's reached Ian Anderson territory now where hitters can approach Strider with patience, knowing that the elite pitch (Strider: slider, Anderson: changeup) only works if the fastball is a swing and miss pitch.

It never was for Anderson, and once the book was out on him after 2021, it led to a lot of 60+ pitch outings thru three innings which can not only affect the current game, but also the next game because it usually means you're burning a lot of bullets in the bullpen.

We're seeing that with Strider now.

With Sale/Strider/Elder

This is a golden opportunity for us. As a pessimist, I'm predicting <7 total runs scored over these next 3 games.

At Gwinnett this season, Strider pitched 12.2 innings, had 18 strikeouts, and a 1.42 ERA. AAA isn’t the Dodgers, but the numbers indicate he can be effective. Looks like 99 is never coming back. So has he learned to pitch? We’ll see.

To be fair, that's pretty identical to his rehab stats last year. In fact, he had a better K/BB in AAA then.

We’re only facing one of the top four Dodger starters.
The Dodgers start right handed pitchers today and Saturday, so there’s a good chance the Braves will start Drake at Catcher tonight, Dom at DH, and Harris in the outfield. Sets up well for our lineup.

Also I never said strider could not be an effective big league guy for us again but he is going to have to go on a brice elder arc when he finds a much different pitch mix IMHO unless that fastball which still gets amazing IVB cant get back up into 97-99 routine.

Yep, unfortunately, like I said in the ATL Thread of his previous start, that's like a season long process and we can't send him down to the farm to work on that short of another injury, which no one wants for him at this point.

I agree. I was laying out the foundation of 30 total runs with the anti-jinx
