Azocar is a right handed bat. Appears to have speed and not much pop.

Hopefully it doesn't turn into something worse than that for Ronald, but I have a feeling he'll be out a lot more than 10 days.

Stratton has been solid since coming over from Pittsburgh. Kinda sucks he was optioned to Gwinnett.
Looking forward to Quadzilla making his season debut today.

With a hammy injury you're probably right. Easily tweaked if rushed back.
Acuna's still a young fella at 28 and frustrating as hell with his frequent nagging injuries. Usually being leg.
Though they're struggling lately, was still hoping to have all of our key horses for the Dodger series.
Hopefully Riley's resurgence keeps up.

I imagine they made that move because he is one of the few guys that has options and because he probably can't pitch again for another couple of days.

I have no expectations for Strider at this point, so anything close to a QS, I'll take. Tough that they give him his first start back at Coors though.

quote:Not just that, but Strider's numbers were good in AAA. If he performs poorly today, do you attribute that to pitching in Denver or pitching vs. Major League (even if it is just the Rockies) hitters? You can't really say until another start.

At this point all that matters is August forward to ensure a playoff slot. Acuna, Strider, Schwelly, Waldrep, Sale should all be handled carefully as all that matters is the fall.

Barring a physical setback, he's going to get a couple of starts before they make an ultimate decision if he's "back" or not, so there won't be a pass/fail test tonight for him.
Regardless of how many runs he gives up, I'll be looking at sustained fastball velo more than anything tonight. Too many times since he's been dealing with injuries, he would open the game sitting 96-97 and touching 98, but then by the third inning he would be sitting 93-95.
That's been the most disheartening thing about Strider in recent years. If the fastball becomes a college level fastball, he doesn't have enough secondary pitches to remedy that and he would get absolutely shelled for a few starts before another lengthy injury popped up.

Ah, this take from you again.
Moron, to get to August, you have to still cover May, June, July.

I love seeing heat but, you're right, heat with nothing else is not a recipe for success in the majors.

Take a month off and get right. We’ll need him for the stretch run.

Sure would've been nice to have an outfielder who isn't dumb enough to piss hot TWICE while Acuna's out.

All my homies hate Profar.

His slider played off so perfectly when he was sitting 98-99.
But since his fastball velo dropped, he essentially became Ian Anderson. A two-pitch pitcher where the only MLB-level pitch he had (Anderson: changeup, Strider: slider) was meant as a swing and miss pitch not in the zone. It led to 60-pitch outings thru 2.2 IP.
Anderson never was able to adapt, hopefully that won't be the case for Strider but idk at this point.

They're off to a huge division lead for early May. Unlike most seasons, there is slack in the line for conservative roster management.

Are you under the impression that baseball is a sport where there is no ramp up before reaching your peak?
RunningJacket has been arguing to shut down Sale until the postseason and it's always been one of the dumbest things uttered on here.

We will be fine. The added pitching boost shoukd help with an offensive loss.
Dont be shocked if Dubon moves to RF when Kim is back if Ronny misses extended time

Right up there about how AA sucks because he didn’t give your boyfriend Dansby a max salary that would have crippled the team for a mid level SS.
And, yeah, Sale has done a great job for us in the playoffs. Oh that’s right, he has never pitched for us in the playoffs because he can’t stay on the field after being used 30 times in games that aren’t that important.
