Good thing we built a cushion on the Phillies when they were struggling. We're going to need it.

Don’t look now, but Matt Olson is ice cold over the last 10. Can’t survive that with a banged up roster and non existent Riley.

Ritchie to Gwinnett as well.

Sucks that the one dude that has been consistently hitting this month is now out.

Olson, Ozzie and Dubon have been arse in May.

Ozzie is likely cooked. April was random. I fear we’re in for a rough next month.

Idk about that, granted I said he was likely cooked before the season started.

He has still been working counts better than usual, just not getting hits anymore.

Dubon likely will never have the output at the plate that he did in April though. That was way more random than Ozzie.

With Olson, unfortunately, he is doing what he has been doing his entire career.

Heater, followed by cold streak. In the end, it averages out to good numbers overall, but for a dude in the middle of the order, it hamstrings the rest of lineup when he is essentially an automatic out for a month.

Would much rather him just be consistently solid throughout a season, even if it means sacrificing the heater months.

Here's hoping Ronnie back to form and can make up the difference

Wish we kept Heim.

Mateo is playing well and should get some starts at 2nd to give Ozzie a break.

I'm assuming the Ritchie thing is just to get an arm up. Haven't had an off day since May 11 and next one isn't until May 25.

This thread has some bad takes in it no offense. At the very least extremely hyperbolic.

Ozzie has been an extremely streaky hitter his entire career. What had made him valuable is he puts up power numbers. He is doing that this year.

Riley has been one of if not the best hitter on the team after Drake over the last 10-14 days. His barrel % in that timeframe is insane and likely not going to remains THAT high but should settle in a very good number. He is also putting a very large number of his balls in play as hard hits so 95 mph evo or more in that timeframe.

Olson has just been taking bad ABs but it’s only been like a week of him doing this.

Dubbon was likely always to see some regression to a mean. He is still immensely valuable because of his defensive versatility and if he ends up settling at a .700 ops for the season that’s major win. He’s still got a .771 ops right now.

Baseball is a 162 games long. There are ebs and flows

Why no posts about how Yaz has totally come alive? Or any other of the countless positive things people could be posting instead of going full doomer because we got blown out last night in a single game of 162

We still have the best record in baseball and a 7 game lead on Philly who will not continue to go 16-4 in 20 game spans

The Yankees are 3 games back in their division to the rays who are the second best team in baseball with one less win than us. I wonder if their fans are going full melt because they looked like world beaters and had a slight down week which happens all the time every season to every team

I also don't think anyone is melting in this thread.

Just a lot of people bummed that our best hitter is out, rightfully so, and it comes at a time where everyone else is anemic at the plate.

On top of last night being a hilarious bad loss.

It's definitely not time to melt, but there are some concerning signs.

I agree no one is melting

There are some bad takes though from knee jerk reactions

The only "bad" take is where someone said Riley has been non-existent.

While I don't agree with Ozzie being cooked yet, it's a fair question to ask considering his numbers have been trending down consistently for the last 2 seasons before having a great April this year.

Like I said before with Olson, he is what he is, and we have to accept the good with the bad I guess. But I just wish his low wasn't as low, even if it means his highs aren't as high.

Yes, Ozzie has been streaky for most of his career. But with the exception of April, he has been ours guy bad for a year and a half with downward trend bat speed. That’s why I use the word cooked.

Ozzie is having his best season since 2023 and its not even remotely close.

He has also been playing the best defense at 2B I think I may have ever seen from him
