The Braves haven't won a postseason series since 2001.

Freeman explicitly talked about his anger regarding Acunas hustle plays.

We can talk about this until we’re blue in the face but Acuna not running out that ball isn’t the reason we lost. Giving up 6 runs in the 8/9th innings.

Snitker played everything pretty damn well all things accordingly. Martin getting hurt and having to go to Luke wasn’t ideal at all. And I think kinda derailed what Snit wanted to do.

All in all we let one slip by forsure. I didn’t think we were gonna sweep but now game 2 and Folty have to be money or game 3 in St. Louis is gonna be a shitshow.

Acuna is a selfish player. He don’t give a frick about the team. Need more people like Freeman

Lmfao Acuña was the Braves best player tonight by far.

Why is his mistake worse than everyone’s favorite replacement level consummate professional loafing in the OF to let Fowler go 1st to 3rd.

Speaking of unwritten rules, Martinez is melting over acuña's home run trot

quote:

He was apparently so aggravated by what happened that catcher Yadier Molina needed to use a mound visit to calm the pitcher down, according to Joe Trezza of MLB.com.

"I simply want him to respect the game and respect me as a veteran player," Martinez told reporters. "That's it. Just play the game."

Respect a veteran who almost blew a 4 run lead in the 9th.

I haven't read this whole thread, so i don't known if this has been asked, but why didn't they leave Fried in. Dude was absolutely filthy the one inning he pitched.

Well for one, Acuna did this same exact thing like 6 weeks ago, and was punished. so to do it again, in the fricking playoffs, is pretty shitty. look at all of his teammates calling him out. Even Ozzie got on his arse.

2- I wouldnt say Nick was loafing. I think he got deked. But, he still should have been charging the ball and ready to throw, youre right.

Cardinals kicked our arse in base-running and hustle plays all night. For a team thats "hungry" and "relentless" they showed poor effort and awareness.

These playoff in-game threads bring out only the brightest of the bright.

The reason we lost is because we have a AAAA Manger in Snit. Acuna watched a ball and still got on base, the horror.

That was one of the worst coached games I’ve seen by Snitker. He’s never been able to manage his pitchers correctly.

The reason we lost is Snitker and it’s not debatable. Just a few dumb shite moves I can think of off the top of my head:

-calls for a bunt with McCann’s slow arse on second and one out, McCann out at 3rd.
-Took Keuchel out early (biggest frick up of the night and started the collapse)
-brought Luke Jackson in and at a terrible time only for him to give a monster HR
-Leaves Melancon in there like he’s a damn starter, blows the game open
-pulled Fried early
-Greene went in too early

So to the functioning retards blaming Acuna, you really don’t know how baseball works. These shortened rosters and condensed series really show a manners true colors in regards to situational baseball.

I am as anti bunting as anyone in the world but I can’t blame Snit for the decision to bunt McCann over because there’s no way he’s scoring from 2nd on anything except a double.

Keuchel needed to come out. He had baserunners all night and it was a minor miracle he survived just giving up one.

He wanted the right/right matchup with Goldschmidt and Martin was his first choice.

pulled Fried early

This is indefensible. Snit should be getting raked over the coals in a big way for this one.

In the other universe, where he ran it out, the Ozzie Albies grounder would have pushed him to third — but from this angle, the vitriol directed at the young Brave was misdirected. He was going to run on contact, and even more so if he’d been on third, and that Josh Donaldson liner (103.8 mph, yet another hard-hit out) would have led to a double play either way. The fact that it might not have really mattered to the score doesn’t absolve Acuña of all blame, of course. He should probably prioritize getting as far on the basepaths as he can with every ball in play, especially with his speed. And the fact that this happened earlier in the season and led to a prominent benching makes it seem like a recurring problem.

Can it be fixed? I can’t help wondering if it’s just part of the package. Maybe you don’t get all the power and speed and excellence if it doesn’t come with the attitude. Confidence at the plate absolutely leads to better outcomes — later, he watched his ninth-inning homer, and it was fine. Anybody who says they wouldn’t want all of Ronald Acuña Jr. on their team, even with the hotdogging, is lying.

From The Athletic this morning. Pretty much my view on the Acuña situation.

Eh, if DK gets it down the first base line, it's not a bad choice.

Took Keuchel out early (biggest frick up of the night and started the collapse)

He needed to come out. If anything, it was 1 batter too early with the pitcher coming up.

Forced by the injury to Martin.

quote:

Leaves Melancon in there like he’s a damn starter, blows the game open

You mean leaves his closer in to get 4 outs. Like he should be able to do.

quote:

pulled Fried early

He's set to start game 4 for now. I'd rather have him start and go 6-7 than scramble or have a bullpen game.

quote:

Greene went in too early

Eh, maybe, but again, the Martin injury forced some wonky bullpen work the rest of the game.

Acuna and Kakes deserve blame (and Snit for overmanaging IMO). Acuna is getting dogged because people want him to reach his potential and because people have a latent fear that his ego/youth are going to derail that. I get it, and his teammates giving him grief tells me what I need to to know.

I agree with that 100%. His attitude drives everything that makes him great and lovable by the fans. You can't have it both ways and hate him for the same thing when it ends up bad.
